As we are wrapping up the 2025-2026 school year today, we want to wish these teachers well as they begin their well-deserved retirement!

Best wishes to Mrs. Althaus, Mrs. Berendes, Mrs. Caldwell, Mrs. Foy, Mrs. Snitker and Mrs. Trentz for a great summer and retirement! We will miss you and all your contributions to Kennedy Elementary School and the Dubuque Community School District!

Please check out the new Outdoor Classroom Space at Kennedy! Students were able to welcome this space on Thursday and Friday this past week. This has been a long time coming and was the third phase of playground work that occurred this year!

Funds for this project came directly from the Kennedy PSA and were funded through annual Walk-A-Thon fundraisers. A huge thank you goes to the Kennedy PSA for their coordination of this project and the management of it over the past two school years.

This will be a great space for students, staff and families to enjoy in the future! The second part of this project will include some permanent furniture to make this area more usable and inviting for classrooms!

Thanks everyone for a great 2025-2026 school year! So much progress and growth were made in our Kennedy classrooms. We wish everyone a safe, fun and restful summer!

As we leave today, let's take a few minutes to celebrate our 5th grade students. This group of students was amazing to work with this year and we will miss them! Best of luck in middle school next year!

We held our final Mustang Round-Up of the year on Wednesday, May 27th! Congratulations to all of these students who have exhibited the Mustang Motto throughout the month of May!

On Friday, May 22nd, Caytlan Moeller from the Dubuque County Conservation Department led the planting of a Pocket Prairie on our Kennedy campus. This area will be planted with native plants and grasses that students will be able to observe right on campus.

This project is the second one we have shared from our Kennedy playground this year. You may remember we planted several trees on campus just a few weeks ago. If you check the background of these pictures, you might just see what our next announcement will be about!

Thanks also to some neighborhood volunteers that came out and assisted with this project as well!

Please wish Kennedy therapy dog, Wall-E, a long and happy retirement! Wall-E has faithfully served the students and staff at Kennedy Elementary School for the past several school years. Wall-E is loved by all those he comes into contact with here at school. He regularly visits classrooms and is a big part of the Kennedy experience.

Today, Wall-E received a paw print card from each student and a parade with his family through the Kennedy halls one last time.

Thank you to the Leifker family for sharing him with the Kennedy school community these past few years! Wall-E will be missed!
