September is National Literacy Month and A’s Learning Legacy is taking literacy into the COMMUNITY with our theme:

READ. RISE. REACH BACK.

Our learners will welcome community readers, visit local businesses to see how literacy is used every day, celebrate HBCUs and grandparents, and REACH BACK by reading and giving back to others.

Today, Koiya was Cook #2, and BABY… she made the BEST Mac & Cheese EVER! 😂🧀💛

But honestly, the mac and cheese wasn’t even the best part. What she learned while making it was!

Koiya practiced following instructions, observation, timing, measuring, patience, and problem-solving—all while building confidence in what she is capable of doing. 💪🏽✨

This is what learning looks like at A’s Learning Legacy! We’re not just cooking meals; we’re building skills, independence, confidence, and LEGACIES. 💚

Today’s COOK was Karter! 👨🏽‍🍳🔥

But this wasn’t just cooking… THIS WAS MATH IN ACTION! 🍗➗✖️

Karter had to count everyone present, figure out how many nuggets each person would receive, and determine how many nuggets he needed to prepare.

He needed a little help, so I created a quick visual right there on the countertop. Once he saw it, HE GOT IT! 🙌🏽

And THAT’S the goal! 💛
Not just helping them get the answer, but teaching them how to figure it out independently the next time—whether they’re at home or here.
