If you have a teenager on the pathway to college, it can be challenging to know where to start the admissions process. The best part of college planning? You don’t have to do it by yourself.

At Compass, we work with students and parents in a way that feels supportive, personal, and actually manageable.

We get to know the whole student, not just the GPA, test scores, activities, or college list. We want to know what lights them up, what stresses them out, where they feel confident, where they need support, and what kind of environment will help them thrive.

And parents? We see you too.

We know how much you’re holding-the deadlines, the questions, the “are we doing enough?” feeling, and the random college conversations that somehow happen at the worst possible time.

Our job is to bring structure, calm, strategy, and a little more joy into the process.

Because with the right team beside you, college planning can feel less overwhelming and a lot more exciting.

We’d love to help your family find the right fit and feel good along the way.

Summer before junior year is not the time to panic, but it is the time to get intentional.

This is when small moves can make a big difference later: exploring interests, starting a college list, tracking activities, understanding testing, and having honest conversations about cost.

The goal is not to have everything figured out.

The goal is to help your teen move into junior year with more clarity, confidence, and direction.

If your rising junior needs a plan before the school year starts, we can help.

DM us or visit the link in bio to get started.

Before sophomore year, a lot of families start feeling like they are already behind.

But usually the biggest mistakes are not about doing too little.
They are about focusing on the wrong things too early.

Freshman year does matter. Not because your teen needs to have everything figured out, but because this is when habits, confidence, grades, and involvement start to take shape.

Comparison does not help either. Every student does not need the same timeline, the same resume, or the same path to be successful.

And before getting swept up in sports, prestige, or outside pressure, the better question is this:
Do we really understand our child yet?

Before sophomore year, the goal is not panic.
It is clarity, self-awareness, and a stronger foundation.

Which of these mistakes do you see families make most often?

8th grade is not too early. It’s actually the perfect time to start.

The high school years shape so much more than most families realize — confidence, course choices, opportunities, and the path to college.

Join Dr. Pamela Ellis live for a virtual masterclass on how to position your 8th grader now for high school success and future college opportunities.

Because the families who feel the most confident later usually start earlier than everyone else.

Helping students build a good life, not just a college list. We guide families through the college process with clarity, confidence, and support that feels personal.

College planning is about more than acceptances. It is about helping students build a good life with clarity, confidence, and the right support along the way.

We believe college planning should lead to more than a decision. It should help students build a good life with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

So many students are not struggling because they are incapable. They are struggling because they are carrying too much pressure and not enough support. Our children need guidance, encouragement, and room to grow into themselves. Sometimes the best thing we can do is believe in them, support them, and give them the space to step forward on their own.

Busy doesn’t always mean strategic.

3 things to stop doing in college admissions:

-Chasing random leadership titles
-Stacking APs with no plan
-Applying “because it’s famous” with no real fit

Admissions isn’t about doing the most. It’s about having a plan.

DM “plan” if you want a clear next step for your teen!
