I heard from a friend at Pine Ridge today. Ice has arrested and detained 3 tribal members. How stupid is this, and who is the immigrant... Ice or the Native American??

The other good news is former Pres. Joe BIden pardoned Leonard Peltier, naturally, the FBI is angry. But, they have to put up an act to show they support the FBI. Read, In the Spirit of Crazy Horse, by Peter Matthiesson. You'll learn some good stuff.

https://www.americanindianmagazine.org/story/Badlands-bombing-range Great article about Pine Ridge and the bombing target practice during WWI. Thank you to National Museum of the American Indian and their great magazine.

The U.S. government took land from the Oglala Lakota people in South Dakota for a World War II bombing range. Eight decades later, this tribe is still left with the perilous task of cleaning it up.

Oct. 9 was Indigenous Peoples Day. I celebrated by remembering Irene Fast Wolf from Pine Ridge Reservation. She was a teacher for many, many years at the American Horse School. She passed on this past year. Bless her sweet soul.
And I remember PFC Lori Piestewa, Hopi. She was the first American Indian woman to die in combat on foreign soil. Iraq, 2003. Twenty-three years ago. Bless her soul.

This is a pair of beaded cuffs used by a man for his dance regalia. I love the story they tell. You can see the ink drawing for the pattern. He or she didn’t have a piece of good leather so a piece of baby furniture, maybe an old crib mattress, was used. Signs of sweat and dirt show they were warn many times. I love looking at them. The beautiful beading, the safety pins, the sparkly shoelaces, the ink patterns inside the cuffs. I think of him. Did he win a trophy for his dancing? Did his children watch him dance
