We’ve had an amazing summer here at Creative Kids, full of playground time, chalking, digging, building and having fun!! We are looking forward to a beautiful fall filled with spooky fun, autumn leaves and fun at school!

One of the many reasons I love running an in-home childcare is the ability to foster and watch children of all ages learning and growing together! Now that it’s fall, the babies get to see our kindegartners and preschoolers get on the school bus and hear about school- and our big kids get to play and help with the babies. I love watching the empathy and kindness that develops in the kids. ❤️

At Creative Kids, we have a lot of Free Play time built into our day for all ages. One of the stages of play development that we foster is Parallel play.

What Is Parallel Play?

Parallel play is when children play side-by-side in the same space but do not interact with one another and instead focus on their own individual activity. This type of play helps children learn how to share space and toys with others, observe how other children talk and play and how adults interact with other children during this time. Parallel play also strengthens children’s problem-solving skills, encourages them to think creatively and independently and exposes them to new vocabulary that’s important for language development.

Play isn’t just a fun way for your child to spend their days — it’s an important part of their development in their first five years. And when they get to play alongside other children, they’ll grow new skills, learn to share toys and space and even make their first friendships! For more info on parallel play, visit:

We have been enjoying the beautiful weather today!! Creative Kids added two more pieces of equipment this summer- a climbing dome to climb and hang and a safari jeep to take on wild adventures! We hope you’re having as much fun as we are this summer! 🌞
