their level when they speak.

your full attention for just a few minutes.
✨Show genuine interest: Ask small
follow-up questions to show you care.

A baby undergoes rapid development during their first year, hitting major cognitive, social, and physical milestones. Here is a timeline of nine key developmental stages your baby will typically reach over their first twelve months.
🔹 0 to 4 Months: Early Connections
Newborn (Recognises Your Voice & Smell): From birth, babies are comforted by familiar voices and smells.
1–3 Months (Starts to Focus & Track): Babies begin focusing better and following faces or objects.
2–4 Months (Social Smiles & Cooing): Smiles and soft sounds become part of early communication.
🔹 3 to 6 Months: Strength & Exploration
3–4 Months (Holds the Head Better): Neck strength improves and head control gets noticeably better.
4–6 Months (Reaches & Grabs): Babies start reaching, grabbing, and actively exploring with their hands.
4–6 Months (Rolls Over): Rolling is an important early movement milestone.
🔹 6 to 12 Months: Independence & Mobility
Around 6 Months (Sits & Starts Solids): Many babies sit better and begin eating solid foods around this stage.
6–9 Months (Babbles & Responds): Babbling grows, and babies respond more clearly to familiar people.
9–12 Months (Crawls / Pulls to Stand): Mobility increases as babies learn to crawl, cruise, or pull themselves to a standing position.

The T.G. Howard Community Center Inc. Tickled Pink, breast cancer awareness program begins next week. There will be several survivors and individuals in treatment receiving some special items until the end of the month.

The most impactful component of the Tickled Pink program, can be found in the testimonials shared by those that have battled breast cancer. Many have found these testimonials to be encouraging and helpful. Today we have a young lady that is well known by many children and families. The T.G. Howard Community Center Inc. would like to introduce to some and reintroduce to others…..

“ Hello my name is Mary Cheverton and I am from Dublin. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Jonathan, and have two dogs, Ivy Jane and Charlie Knox. I am a graduate of Pulaski County High School and Radford University.

I also have the pleasure of serving currently as the Director of Student Services and Safety for Pulaski County Public Schools. This is my eighth year in this position, and prior to moving to central office, I was a school counselor for over 17 years at Pulaski County High School, Riverlawn Elementary School, and Snowville Elementary School.

I love to travel to the beach and be in the sun! I also love spending time with family and friends. Most importantly I love to laugh!

Hearing "you need to come back for more testing" after a routine mammogram took me completely by surprise. Being diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma at 44 and learning I needed a double mastectomy completely changed my perspective on life.

It was never an obstacle that I thought I would face, but through my faith and the unwavering support of my family, friends, and colleagues, I was able to maintain a positive outlook.

My faith was my anchor, giving me peace when fear took over. Surrounding that faith was a wave of love: my family, friends, and colleagues lifted me with prayers, meals, support, and compassion and provided grace and kindness through my surgeries and recovery.

Their love turned an unexpected ordeal into a story of resilience and healing. Being told I was cancer-free after multiple surgeries was an answer to many prayers!

The advice I would share with others who might face or be facing an unexpected health challenge would be the following……

Anchor yourself in faith and hope, lean into your support system, and take things one day—and one step—at a time while advocating for yourself, asking questions, and always extending grace to yourself along the way.”

We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Alice Armentrout visit Building Bridges Child Development Center to share her love of music with our little learners! ❤️

From singing and dancing to rhythm, movement, and lots of laughter, Mrs. Alice brings so much joy and excitement into our classrooms! 🥰🎹🥁

🎼 Did you know music plays an important role in early childhood development?

🎵 Language Development – Songs, rhymes, and repetition help children build vocabulary, listening skills, and early literacy.

🥁 Math Skills – Clapping, counting beats, and recognizing patterns introduce important early math concepts.

💃 Physical Development – Dancing, clapping, and moving to music strengthen coordination, balance, and motor skills.

🧠 Brain Development – Music encourages memory, concentration, creativity, and problem-solving.

💕 Social & Emotional Growth – Singing and making music together build confidence, encourage cooperation, and help children express their feelings.

🎤 School Readiness – Following directions, taking turns, and participating in group activities help prepare children for future learning.
