Student parents have access to lactation spaces in Edwards Hall and at the Christiansburg site, as well as a kid-friendly study space in the library where parents can work toward their educational goals with their little ones nearby.

Meet Kellsie Stump, an NRCC student parent with a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.
For Kellsie, balancing motherhood and college isn’t always easy, but pursuing her education is about more than earning a degree. She wants her daughter to grow up knowing that it’s never too late to chase a dream, set goals and work hard for the future.
From studying after bedtime to juggling assignments and family responsibilities, Kellsie is showing her daughter the meaning of dedication and perseverance every day.
As an NRCC student parent, Kellsie is grateful for the opportunity to continue her education while navigating motherhood—and proud to be part of a college community that recognizes, supports and celebrates student parents.
Her journey is a reminder that dreams don’t have to be put on hold for parenthood. Sometimes, they become even more meaningful.

We loved spending time together earlier this week at the Student Parent Open House CAPS event and celebrating the students who balance their education with caring for their families at home.
