Today, May 12 is National Limerick Day. Limerick poems were made popular in 1846 in Edward Learâs book âBook of Nonsenseâ. Within a limerick poem, there are five lines. The first two lines rhyme with the fifth line and the third and fourth lines rhyme together. Here is a sample:
A greyhound named Hunter lives here
Heâs brindle with taco chip ears
Boy could he run
In the Florida sun
With long skinny legs like a deer.
If youâd like to give it a try, go ahead and make up a limerick for your dog and post it in the comments.

Greyhounds are majestic⌠but also delightfully weird.
Here are some of their most iconic quirks:
đž Weird Greyhound Traits List
The âGreyhound Scream of Deathâ (dramatic⌠but harmless)
Roaching - Sleeping with their legs straight up like a deer hit by a tranquilizer dart
Zero concept of personal space
Believing every couch is their birthright
Teeth chattering when excited
Running 40 mph, then sleeping 20 hours
The âlong snoot boopâ requirement
Their ability to look both regal and deeply confused at the same time
Preferring your bed, your pillow, and your side of the bed
Being afraid of things like⌠wet leaves
