To learn more about the Ohio Communication Disability Law, visit:

Last week, on behalf of OOD Director Kevin Miller, OOD Legislative Liaison Jacob Winters attended Governor Mike DeWine's signing of House Bill 144 into law. 💼

This important legislation modifies the existing Communication Disability Law by expanding the current voluntary statewide registry to include individuals with various disabilities, not just communication disabilities. The registry allows these individuals or their families to share vital information with countywide 9-1-1 systems ahead of time.

This means that when a call is made, dispatchers can relay critical details to first responders, helping ensure safer and more informed emergency responses across Ohio.

We're proud to see Ohio continue taking steps every day toward disability-inclusive safety and communication for all. 💙
