Dear John Knox Co-op Preschool Families,
It is with a heavy heart that we share some important news. After thoughtful consideration and careful evaluation of enrollment trends, the John Knox Co-op Preschool Staff and Board have made the difficult decision that John Knox Co-op Preschool will not be enrolling students for the 2026-2027 school year and its final day was the conclusion of this past school year.
For more than six decades, John Knox Co-op Preschool has been a place where children have learned, grown, played, and built lasting friendships. Like many preschool programs throughout California, we have experienced a significant enrollment decline as Transitional Kindergarten (TK) eligibility has expanded, increased time demands on families that impacts their ability to volunteer in the classroom, and financial costs have made it increasingly difficult to sustain our program.
We are incredibly grateful for the trust you have placed in us. It has been an honor to be part of your children's earliest educational experiences. We extend our deepest appreciation to the dedicated teachers, staff, parent volunteers, and board members whose commitment has shaped the legacy of this school.
We are also planning a farewell picnic so families can say goodbye to the teachers, and the school we love. Details to follow.
