Just finished listening to an insightful "On Purpose" podcast with Jay Shetty and Dr. Daniel Amen about raising mentally strong kids, and I wanted to share some of the biggest takeaways:

Let Them Learn: Don't solve all your kids' problems for them! Affordable mistakes build responsibility and resilience.

Be the Example: Mental strength starts with YOU. Be authentic and show integrity in your own life.

Create Routines Rules and routines are a foundation, but don't force them

Quality Time (the RIGHT kind): Schedule 20 minutes daily with NO commands, questions, or directions from you. Just be present and listen!

Affirm Effort, Not Innate Abilities: Praise kids for how hard they work. "I'm rooting for you!" is great.

Cultivate Curiosity Allow your children to pursue the interests that make them happy.

Balance is Key: Don't overreact or then under-react, leading to a cycle of guilt and avoidance.

Brain Health Matters: As the doctor shared, what they eat and how they sleep matters. Are they getting enough nutrients and rest?
