After greeting her class at the door every day for nearly 3 weeks, Mrs. W noticed that children once reluctant to greet her were now making up complex new greetings every day. Some children moved from opting for a wave to a hug, and some had something they wanted to talk about that was upsetting them. Every single child in her class—even those teary or reluctant the first week of school—happily came to the door to greet her.
