Emergency Procedures in Physical Therapy 2020 Update
December 8, 2020

Course Description: Emergency situations in physical therapy although rare do occur in settings in which therapy services are delivered. Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants need to be sensitive to emergent situations as well as have a skill set that allows for an appropriate response and ensure personal protection. This course will review and reinforce general physical and psychological responses to emergency situations. In addition, recently released CPR updates and COVID-19 considerations will be discussed within the context of health care delivery. Identifying and responding to emergency health conditions that may occur during the treatment of a patient with diabetes and lower limb amputation as well as a patient with traumatic brain injury will be discussed in detail.
