Here's an interesting conversation to engage in for my friends here at Digital Media Tutor...What is your take on this line of thought regarding use of technology in the classroom?

I recently received some interesting commentary from a working teacher regarding implementation of technology in the classroom. Apparently this person has friends in the teaching realm who are resistant to the use of instructional technology (and especially digital media technologies) that would allow them to basically duplicate themselves through the creation of automated, self-paced online learning modules based on their original curriculum. This resistance is based not so much on the learning curve issues, nor on the lack of understanding of the benefits, but is rooted in their concerns over job security. Some teachers feel that if they embrace this technology and use it for what it's really worth that eventually they will be working themselves or some of their colleagues out of a job because they won't be needing as many teachers in their school. Hmmm.... I found this quite interesting. Do you ever receive similar feedback from your colleagues or perhaps you feel the same? I would love to hear from you on this subject!
