Richard Mongeau will be joining the IAPF as Executive Director and serve as a member (non-voting) of its board of directors.

Prior to joining IAPF, Richard has spent most of his professional career as an association executive for the Quebec Equestrian Federation (Executive Director) and subsequently with Equestrian Canada (CEO).

Before his work as an association executive, Richard was heavily involved in equestrian as a competitor, coach, judge, and horse owner.

Roy Bloom is pleased to announce that the "Roy Bloom Scholarship Trophy" will have a new temporary home this year. Jeff and Diane Gartner of Visby Products in Wellington, Florida have agreed to proudly display the trophy in their store. Please stop by and check out the rooster that was hand-forged by Terry Holst of Minnesota.

2019 R0Y BLOOM SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

And the results are in! Congratulations to Michael Diehl AF of Turlock, California and Meredith Martin APF-I of Scottsville, Virginia for being selected as the recipients of the 2019 Roy Bloom Scholarship.

Mike and Meredith will both receive complimentary air flights from their home to Cincinnati, Ohio to attend the International Hoof-Care Summit. In addition, they'll receive complimentary registration for the Summit, along with hotel lodging for their stay.

The Roy Bloom Scholarship was created in 2013 through the initial generosity of James Gilchrist APF-I and others. Through the years 2 - 5 farriers have been selected as recipients of this scholarship.

Today the scholarship is sponsored by Frank Reilly DVM APF of West Chester, Pennsylvania, as well as donations from friends of Roy Bloom CJF APF-I and the AAPF/IAPF.

We will introduce Mike and Meredith to the membership on Wednesday, January 23 during the Annual Meeting of the AAPF/IAPF at the Cincinnati Hilton Hotel. We hope that you will be able to attend and congratulate these two honorees.

DEADLINE FOR MAKING APPLICATION FOR THE 2019 ROY BLOOM SCHOLARSHIP EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 1, 2018

The AAPF/IAPF is pleased to present the 2019 Roy Bloom Scholarship Program. The goal of this program is to encourage farriers to pursue their continuing education by attending the 2019 International Hoof-Care Summit as well as participating in the AAPF/IAPF Mentoring program.

This program will annually recognize two (2) eligible farriers by providing each of them with a package to include:


- Registration to the International Hoof-Care Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio
- Transportation to the Summit (either by auto reimbursement or air travel)
- Lodging at the Summit (up to 4 nights)

ELIGIBILITY:
- Be a current member of the AAPF/IAPF
- May have previously applied
- Have never attended the International Hoof-Care Summit
- The applicant must be willing and able to attend the AAPF/IAPF Annual General Membership meeting at the International Hoof-Care Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio
- Submit an application

A fellow member of the association will also need to submit a letter of recommendation for the applicant.

CATEGORIES:
This year the association will divide the scholarship into 2 categories. One recipient will be selected from each of these categories:
A. Farriers having less than 5 years of experience
B. Farriers having 5 or more years of experience

APPLICATION:
An application will include an essay on the subject: "Why I Would Like to be a Recipient of the Roy Bloom Scholarship"

Considerations to include in the essay should include:
- What you hope to receive by attending the International Hoof-Care Summit
- The impact of attending the Summit on your farrier practice
- The benefits you have received (or hope to receive) through your involvement in the AAPF/IAPF Mentoring program
- Additional information describing your education and experience to get to this point in your life

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 1, 2018


Scholarships winners will be announced no later than November 15, 2018
