Nothing wraps up a week better than a gallery of pure joy from our little learners! This week our friends were busy exploring, playing, and lighting up every room they walked into.

🌟 **What we caught on camera:**
- A proud reader showing off her letter work on the light-up tracing board
- New friendships blooming on the playground with big hugs and bigger smiles
- Teamwork in the gravel pit, filling up the wagon together
- Sweet moments between our teachers and their littles

Our Pre-K friends spent the week diving deep into the alphabet, and the letter Aa got the full multi-sensory treatment! From tracing on light-up boards to sculpting with clay, our little learners explored every angle of this letter — because the best way to *learn* a letter is to *feel*, *build*, and *play* with it!

Here's how our friends brought "A" to life:

✏️ **Tracing & Tech** — Practicing letter formation on light-up drawing boards, watching their A's and O's glow to life

🚗 **Driving the Letter** — Steering little cars along a dotted, numbered "A" path to trace the letter's shape from start to finish

🔨 **Building the Letter A** — Using craft sticks and loose parts to construct their very own capital "A," matching the shape to the model card

🔤 **Sorting the Alphabet** — Digging through a tray of colorful letters, spotting and pulling out A's from the mix

🚀 **A is for Astronaut** — Sculpting clay astronauts and moonscapes while connecting the letter sound to real vocabulary

🍎 **Counting Apples** — Sorting and counting a whole tray of apples, blending early math with letter recognition

🐜 **A is for Ant** — Getting hands-on (literally!) with a tray full of ants, building fine motor skills one tiny pinch at a time

When kids can touch, build, drive, and count their way to a letter, it sticks! This kind of playful, hands-on exploration is exactly what sets the stage for confident readers down the road. 🌟

👦👧 **Our Discovery Class Explores Feelings — and Themselves!**

Circle time started with a story about feelings and emotions, complete with photos of real kids making different expressions — happy, sad, surprised, and more — helping our friends put names to what they feel inside.

Then it was time to create! Each child decorated their own self-portrait, adding paper strip hair, crayon scribbles, and personalized name labels to make their face truly their own.

This activity supported:

📖 **Emotional Vocabulary** — Learning that feelings have names, and that everyone experiences them differently

🎨 **Self-Expression & Identity** — Creating a portrait that represents "me"

✂️ **Fine Motor Skills** — Coloring, taping, and placing paper strip hair with careful little hands

🎨 **The Navigators Explore Big Feelings with "The Color Monster"!**

This week our Navigators dove into emotions through the beloved book *The Color Monster*, learning how each feeling has its very own color. Then they got creative, grabbing forks (yes, forks!) as their paintbrushes to bring those feelings to life on paper!

Here's what our friends explored:

🔴 **Red = Anger** — Dragging red paint in bold, energetic strokes

🟡 **Yellow = Happiness** — Dabbing bright, cheerful yellow marks across the page

⚫ **Black = Fear** — Swirling dark strokes while talking through what makes them feel scared

🔵 **Blue = Sadness** — Layering cool blue tones to represent quieter emotions

Using forks as a painting tool was a fun twist that helped strengthen fine motor skills and the pincer grasp, all while giving little hands a new sensory way to express big feelings. Pairing an emotional-literacy book with a hands-on art project helped our Navigators build their emotional vocabulary — learning that all feelings are okay, and there are healthy ways to express them!

Today we're celebrating a full year of Ms. Maddy at YGC — and what a year it's been! 🙌

Ms. Maddy brings amazing energy to our school every single day. As an innovative leader with our schoolers, she brings STEAM to life in the most creative ways — from engineering games out of cardboard boxes to making math genuinely fun. She has a gift for turning learning into an adventure! 🛠️

Beyond her work with schoolers, Ms. Maddy also teaches PE to all of our preschoolers, bringing fun and creative movement and sports lessons that get our littlest learners up and moving. 🏃‍♀️⚽

Her warm presence, intelligence, and passion for teaching make her such a special part of the YGC family. We are so happy to celebrate Ms. Maddy today — and every day! 💛
