🎃🧼 **Pumpkin Spa Day in Pre-K!** 🧽💦
October is here, and our Pre-K class has a very special guest: our class pumpkin! Before we can explore it all month long, it needed a good scrub. Our friends grabbed spray bottles, scrubby sponges, and soapy water and got to work, spraying, scrubbing, and rinsing until that pumpkin was clean and shiny. ✨
**Skills in the suds:**
🧽 Fine motor strength: squeezing spray bottle triggers and scrubbing with sponges builds the hand muscles needed for writing
🤝 Hand-eye coordination: aiming the spray and scrubbing in circles and strokes
👐 Sensory exploration: feeling the bumpy ridges, the smooth skin, the rough stem, and the slippery bubbles
🔬 Science: watching water bead up on the waxy skin and noticing how soap and scrubbing lift away dirt
🗣️ Language and social skills: sharing tools, taking turns, and describing what they see and feel
💪 Independence and responsibility: caring for something that belongs to our whole classroom
**Why clean a pumpkin?**
A pumpkin grows in the dirt, so a good wash gets rid of the dirt and grime. That makes it a cleaner, more pleasant pumpkin for little hands to touch, and it helps it stay fresh longer so we can observe it all month. A clean pumpkin also shows off its ridges, stem, and color, which makes it easier to see the details we'll be drawing, measuring, and talking about! 🔍
