Personal Statement:

I grew up in the Texas Hill Country, graduated from high school in Comfort and have deep roots in Dripping Springs. Work positioned my family out of state for a number of years and during those years our children attended both private and magnet public schools. When we returned to Texas in 2012 we chose to make Dripping Springs our home because DSISD provides an education that matches or exceeds any other Austin-area school and also provides an incredible array of extra-curricular opportunities. I have enjoyed volunteering at campuses on all levels throughout the district and with the DS Education Foundation as well as other local organizations supporting students and the community. Since returning to my Texas roots and making Dripping Springs our home, I have met people from a variety of backgrounds, from long-time DS residents to those brand new, some from the furthest corners of the US. I would love to help bring synergy to all of these voices, strengthening our school system in ways that are not necessarily measured by standardized tests, but by the individual success stories of each of our students. I believe that my education, experience and broad perspective can be helpful to the DSISD school board. I welcome the opportunity to work tirelessly for this district! DSISD board vice president Dr. Mary Jane Hetrick has been named a 2025-26 officer for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) as President-Elect, the organization announced at the 2025 Delegate Assembly in Houston. Hetrick is in her fourth term on the DSISD Board of Trustees, currently serving a third year as vice president following two years as president. She is a 2017 Leadership TASB graduate and Master Trustee. Congratulations, Dr. Hetrick!

DSISD campuses will honor and recognize veterans and active duty military from all branches of service with school assemblies on Friday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 11. All assemblies are open to the community!
