📚➕ When reading class turns into math class!

Our 5th graders in Mrs. Knapp’s class are getting ready to dive into a new novel study, but first, they had a little math challenge to tackle. Each letter of the alphabet had a different value, and students had to use those letters to create words that added up to exactly $1.00. We love seeing students make connections across subjects and have fun while learning. 💛🐯

🏕️📣 CAMP ROLL CALL! Meet our new PE paraprofessional!

I’m excited to begin a new chapter as an Elementary PE Instructional Aide at Walnut Springs! After 14 rewarding years as an elementary teacher in the Houston area, I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with students in a new role.

I recently made the big move to Dripping Springs, Texas, to be closer to my grandchildren, and I couldn’t be happier about this next adventure. Outside of school, I love gardening and staying active by running daily. I’m looking forward to making new connections, staying active, and continuing to make a positive impact on students!

🏕️📣 CAMP ROLL CALL! Meet a new paraprofessional joining Camp Walnut!

My name is Leona “Lee” Scott. I grew up in Arizona where I graduated from NAU. I was a teacher for 30 years with the majority of my career in Arizona as an ESL teacher. I am a mom of two grown kids. I love spending time with family, walking my dog, and reading. I am looking forward to my role as an inclusion/resource paraprofessional at Walnut Springs Elementary!

There’s no better way to start the day at Camp Walnut than with a whole crew of people ready to welcome our Tigers! Our dads, our SRO, and even Pikachu were out this morning helping with car drop-off and making sure our Tigers arrived with smiles. We are so grateful for the extra hands, big smiles, and all the people who help make Walnut Springs such a special place to be.

ARRIVAL REMINDER

Yesterday was our special First Day Arrival, which gave families the opportunity to walk their Tigers into school. Today, we are officially moving into our normal arrival procedures, so parents will not be able to walk students into the building.

Here are a few quick reminders to help arrival run smoothly:

Arrival Options: Students may arrive by bus, parent car drop-off, or parent park-and-walk.

Traffic Flow: All parent drop-off traffic must enter and exit through Tiger Lane. Peabody Place and the fire lane behind the school are reserved for buses and staff. Please do not drop students off along Peabody Place.

Vehicle Safety: Students should enter and exit vehicles from the passenger side only. Drivers should remain in their vehicles. If your child needs help with their seatbelt, please use our designated Buckle Zone.

Park & Walk: If you park and walk, please walk your child all the way to the crosswalk. Students should not cross moving traffic without an adult.

Extra Caution: Please drive carefully around the back of campus as we have additional middle school traffic in the area.

Thank you for helping us keep arrival safe, smooth, and consistent as we settle into our routines at Camp Walnut.

We are ready for another great day of learning, leading, and exploring!
