Golf fans paid top prices to attend the PGA Championship this year, but Culinary Arts major Grace Dennin was in the middle of the action—for free. “Thanks to an internship opportunity offered in my Restaurant Management class, I was able to work and see the Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. There’s always something being offered in the program—volunteer opportunities, jobs and internships, and chances to attend events.”
A budding chef since childhood, “I was inspired by my Dad, a great cook and a major foodie. I was also big into food-based YouTubers like Rosanna Pansino—aka ‘Nerdy Nummies.’” After taking her first Culinary Arts class, “I was hooked. Big shout out to Chef Zach Hathaway. His class helped me solidify my decision to pursue this career path.” Grace has a summer internship at Pennypacker Country Club in Downingtown, where she manages snack bar staff, orders food and tracks food inventory, maintains food safety procedures and more. She’d like to work in the catering or pastry fields. “I’m drawn to the farm-to-table style, sourcing ingredients from local farms or producers. One day I hope to own my own catering business.”
