On the first day of school 8B jumped right into working with Mrs. Caporizzo, the Director of Parish Services, on a service project. Half of the class filled Mason jars with symbols of Fall. They are welcome presents for the new staff. Another group of students decorated bags with stencils for an upcoming charity to St. John’s Hospice. The final four students stuffed pillows for presents for a few of the regular food pantry recipients. Mrs. Caporizzo noted the students were most cooperative and she was delighted to work with them. For the second consecutive year, Saint Andrew School has earned the School of Distinction Award for Growth!

This recognition is based on the students’ exceptional academic growth, as measured by year-over-year performance on the Terra Nova Normal Curve Equivalent (NCE) scale. To qualify for this distinction, schools must meet the following criteria: A school must demonstrate that a majority of classes (80%) at each tested grade level showed growth in all content areas. NCE scores are norm-referenced and allow for fair and accurate comparisons across groups, reflecting not only achievement but the pace of academic progress.
