Today, Mrs. Whitney’s 3rd graders enjoyed Reading by the Campfire as they read in “tents” with flashlights to the sound of a crackling campfire. Students reported this was an enjoyable way to practice their independent reading skills!

Mrs. Alyssa’s 3rd grade class enjoyed a Book Tasting as they ‘got a taste’ of different chapter books they might be interested in reading. They browsed the books in a cafe-style atmosphere complete with soft music and lighting.

Kindergarten students listened to teachers read “My Mouth Is a Volcano!” The story is about a boy who constantly interrupts because he feels like his words must come out immediately. He learns to control his “eruptions” as the story teaches kids the importance of listening, patience, and respecting others when they are talking. Students were treated to a volcano science experiment as a connection to the book!
