Our kids got to have the incredible feeling yesterday of walking into NASA and realizing: I know something about this. 🚀
CTE students from Dresden and Westview High School had the opportunity to visit NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center for CTE Day, where they got an up-close look at the technical work behind some of NASA’s biggest missions.
Students toured facilities, explored the equipment and processes used at Marshall, and learned more about careers in areas like advanced manufacturing, welding, CNC machining, propulsion, testing, and more.
But one of our favorite parts of the day was watching our students make the connection between what they’re learning now and the work happening right in front of them.
When NASA professionals began talking about welding techniques, CNC equipment, manufacturing processes, and skilled trades, our students weren’t hearing those terms for the first time. They knew what they were talking about. They asked questions. They compared techniques. They talked about career opportunities and got advice directly from professionals doing this work every day.
CTE gives students the chance to build real skills while they’re still in high school—and a day behind the scenes at NASA gave them a pretty incredible look at just how far those skills can take them. 🚀
