JD Student Ambassadors spent the day at their annual Ambassador Retreat.

The Campus Life group spent the morning in the Skaggs Theater with breakfast and ice breaker games, including “Color, Character, Car” and “Name That Tune.”

They then bused to downtown Salt Lake for a Game Show Experience, where their knowledge was put to the test. It was the perfect day for building bonds of community and friendship within Student Ambassadors.

We’re so grateful for our Student Ambassadors for all their service to our school and our greater community.
This school year alone, they’ve sacrificed their evenings and weekends in order to provide support at a wide range of events. We’re happy to see them out having some fun today!

A huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who came out yesterday for Farm To Table Garden Day! 💙🪴

Together, this group of students, parents, faculty, and staff from all three schools spent their Saturday preparing our soon to be Farm to Table garden for spring planting. This includes measuring and digging out furrows, constructing raised garden beds, and laying down/smoothing out many many truckloads of wood chips into accessible walkways. 🪏

This project will add so much value to our campus, and we can’t wait to see it come together over the next year.

We are thrilled with the amount of work that was accomplished by our team of volunteers yesterday, thank you again! If you missed out, there will be plenty more opportunities to lend your hands to the garden project in the future.

From the halls of JD to pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Kirsten Sumampong, Class of 2021, is putting the foundation she built at JD to work.

Kirsten credits the JDCHS Academy of Sciences, AP Capstone, and her experiences with the University of Utah College of Pharmacy with teaching her how to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and approach science with curiosity.

“When I think about where I first learned how to truly think like a scientist, I always come back to the JDCHS Academy of Sciences.”

“The science has become more complex, but the foundation is the same: read critically, ask better questions, stay curious, and keep digging until the pieces make sense.”

We are proud to see Kirsten carrying the Juan Diego spirit of curiosity and discovery.

It’s Investigations Week in Ms. Wahlig’s Criminology class, a classic “whodunnit” exercise to dig deep into the scene of a crime. 🔍

Together in groups, students were given samples of evidence and witnesses to question in order to piece together who committed the crime and how. Shoutout to Mr. Baker, Mr. Cyrus, and Mrs. Dooley for filling those roles. 👏

Electives like Criminology are what makes learning at JDCHS come alive. They challenge students to communicate effectively, think critically, and work together to reach a common goal.

JDCHS Band students had their first concert of the year last night, and it was a resounding success!

Congrats to Mr. Mattingly and the entire JD band on an outstanding performance.
