🍂 Back-to-school fun continues at Gateway Academy! 🍂

Yesterday’s afternoon Spark Break brought out some friendly competition as our students took on staff in an epic game of dodgeball! 🏐😄

Needless to say… the students came out on top, but a great time was had by all! 🏆🎉

🎉 Making the First Week Back FUN! 🎉

If you know Gateway, you know we like to make things fun! 💙 We’re kicking off the new term with daily lunchtime activities to help our students settle in, connect with friends, and enjoy a little extra fun during their day.

Yesterday, we put everyone’s taste buds to the test with a blind taste test! 👀🍿 Students had to put their senses to work and see if they could guess what they were tasting. There were plenty of surprises, laughs, and some very confident guesses! 😂

And we’re just getting started… 👀✨

📚 First day of Fall Term!

We’re excited to kick off a fresh term at Gateway Academy and all the opportunities for growth, learning, and connection that come with it!

Before getting back into the classroom, our students wrapped up last week with some egg games—and had an egg-cellent time. 🥚 From plenty of laughs to a little friendly competition, it was a fun way to connect, get outside, and enjoy time together as a community.

Now, we’re ready to carry that energy into the new term. Here’s to a great start! 🌿

☀️💦 What a way to wrap up an incredible summer!💦☀️

Gateway Academy's annual Water Carnival was a huge hit and one of our favorite traditions of the year!

Students cooled off with a giant water slide, an epic water balloon battle, and plenty of laughs at the dunk tank—where they (and our Executive Director) had the chance to dunk one of Gateway's owners! 🎯😄 We topped it all off with an ice cream sundae bar loaded with all of the favorite toppings. 🍨🍒

Events like these are about more than just having fun. They celebrate the friendships, personal growth, and accomplishments our students have made throughout the summer while creating memories they'll carry with them into the new school year.

Here's to an amazing summer and an exciting fall ahead! 🎉

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Laura Kemper, LCSW 🌟

Meet Laura, our incredible Admissions Director! For over 10 years, Laura has walked alongside families during some of their most vulnerable moments — offering steady guidance as they navigate life's toughest decisions.

We're so grateful to have Laura on our team, bringing her patience, positivity, and endless compassion to every family she meets. And she doesn't do it alone — her trusty sidekick, therapy dog Hope 🐾, is right there bringing comfort wherever it's needed most.

Beyond the office, Laura is a talented artist, a proud mom to twins, and simply one of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet.

Laura, thank you for everything you do — for our families, our team, and our community. We're lucky to have you! 💛

🎨 Mindful Moments at Gateway 🎨

This summer, our students have been slowing down, breathing deep, and creating something beautiful — one mandala at a time! 🌿

Mindfulness is woven into the Gateway experience, and these beautiful mandalas are a tangible reminder of what our students are learning: how to pause, focus, and find calm in the moment.

Every circle, pattern, and object choice is a small act of mindfulness in action. We're so proud of the creativity — and the calm — our students bring to the table. ✨

Paddleboards, kayaks, and games on the shore — it's just one of the many ways our students soak up summer together. From adventures on the water to everything else we've got planned, this season is packed with favorite moments in the making.

Gateway Academy students frequently have the opportunity to serve at our local food bank, demonstrating compassion, teamwork, and a commitment to giving back to the community.

By helping sort and prepare food for families in need, our students learn that service is about more than completing a task—it's about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Sometimes the biggest leaps happen outside.

At Gateway Academy, getting outside is about much more than adventure. It's an opportunity for students to step beyond the limits they've placed on themselves, discover new strengths, and build confidence that carries into every aspect of life.

Many of our students arrive feeling isolated or disconnected. Through shared experiences in nature and the community, they learn to trust themselves, ask for support, encourage one another, and realize they are capable of far more than they imagined.
