Last night we explored the wine and food of Spain with sommelier and wine educator Mike Conti. Our guests enjoyed classic mixed seafood, chicken and chorizo, paella, stuffed piquillo peppers, crab, croquettes, and decadent chocolate cake. As a bonus, we started with a pinxto from the weather in Spain - castrelvetrano olives wrapped with white anchovy over a blue cheese mousse. Mike is a master at finding wines that complement these bold flavors.

My Taco Tuesday. Pan toasted flour tortillas stuffed with Halibut, queso, lettuce and onion. Spicy guacamole with bacon and cilantro. Mexican rice with chorizo. Comfort food. What a nice way to finish the day.

Been awhile since I fired up the Ooni pizza oven. But it’s a beautiful night and I’m getting ready for the NFL draft. Flyers and Sixers are in the playoffs. It’s been tough with the Phillies, but I still have faith. It’s great to be a sports fan in Philadelphia.

Halfway through a week checking out west coast schools with . We started in Phoenix and then detoured to Tucson to see great friends. Yesterday, made our way to San Diego. Spent the day on Coronado beach and then picked up the most pristine fish from a local seafood market and restaurant. We ate there last night but tonight decided we would stay in and do poke bowls. Seared salmon and tuna with avocado. Charred corn, sautéed chard and sweet onion. It was incredibly fresh and delicious.

Last night, we ventured down to South Philadelphia and had a great dinner in Barcelona Bar. Will was in the mood for Spanish food. They had an incredible mix of tapas and big plates. Everything was so well cooked and flavorful. Service was exceptional. Plus, such good company.
