BLAUTISM EDUCATION IS RETURNING — AND OUR MISSION IS GROWING. 💙♾️

As Blautism Education returns to social media and steps forward again as a nonprofit organization, we are returning with a renewed purpose.

For years, much of our advocacy centered around K–12 education—because that was the season our family was living. We advocated for understanding in classrooms, appropriate support, parent accountability, coordinated care, and most importantly, for our son to be seen as a whole person rather than simply a diagnosis.

But children grow up.

Our son did. And Blautism had to grow with him.

This week, we are shifting the conversation from simply supporting autistic children to asking an equally important question:

What happens when autistic children become autistic adults?

The story of Jason Arday provides a powerful place to begin that conversation. His remarkable journey, public accomplishments, the controversies surrounding the final chapter of his career, and his death at only 41 remind us that achievement does not eliminate the need for understanding, community, accommodations, grace, or support.

An autistic adult can be educated.
An autistic adult can be accomplished.
An autistic adult can have a career, a family, responsibilities and tremendous gifts—

and still need support.

Too often, society pours resources into helping autistic children navigate childhood while treating adulthood as though reaching a certain birthday somehow means the challenges associated with neurodivergence disappear.

They don't.

The needs may change.
The environment changes.
The expectations certainly change.

But the need to be understood does not disappear.

So, as Blautism Education begins this new chapter, our advocacy is growing alongside the very journey that created this organization in the first place.

Join us this week as we explore the necessity of supporting autistic adults—from education and employment to relationships, independence, mental wellness, community, accountability, and navigating a world that often expects adulthood to look only one way.

We spent years asking schools to see our children.

Now it's time to ask the world:

Do you still see them when they become adults?

At Blautism Education⁠�, we have intentionally shifted our focus toward empowering parents to take a more active role in shaping their child’s educational journey and future outcomes.

As our valued partner, Director Keith Jacobs, and Step Up For Students recently shared, education is evolving from a system solely driven by placement based on ZIP code toward one where families are empowered with the opportunity, funding access, and knowledge to make informed educational decisions for their children.

This movement is not about denying children access to quality education.

The funding is still there.

The resources are still there.

The educators are still there.

What is changing is the level of parent participation and engagement in the educational process.

At Blautism Education, we believe families—especially those raising children with exceptionalities, Autism, or other neurodivergent needs—must be equipped with both information and strategy to navigate educational pathways successfully.

This is where partnership and subject matter expertise matter.

Keith Jacobs and the work being done through Step Up For Students⁠� continue to help families understand how educational customization can create opportunities for individualized learning experiences that align with a child’s unique strengths, challenges, and long-term goals.

At Blautism Education, we have also intentionally expanded conversations toward the Vocational Rehabilitation side of the process. Why? Because educational planning should not stop at classroom placement alone.

The conversation must include:

Workforce readiness

Life skills development

Vocational training opportunities

Transitional planning

Postsecondary pathways

Independent living preparation

Employment sustainability for individuals with exceptional needs

Too often, families are not informed early enough about the importance of aligning educational choices with long-term vocational outcomes.

Children receiving Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services deserve educational models that not only support academic achievement, but also prepare them for adulthood, independence, and meaningful participation within the workforce and society.

Educational choice does not remove accountability.

It increases responsibility.

It requires parents to learn, advocate, participate, and intentionally engage in decisions regarding their child’s future.

At Blautism Education, our mission is to help families navigate these systems with knowledge, advocacy, and practical support—ensuring children are not simply accommodated, but properly positioned for success in education, employment, and life.

Because every child deserves more than access.
They deserve direction, opportunity, and the ability to thrive.

Closing Out Autism Acceptance Month
As we close out Autism Acceptance Month, I find it important to reflect—not just on awareness—but on evolution.

The evolution of leadership.

The evolution of systems.

And the evolution of accountability.
Why has Blautism Education shifted toward Workforce Strategy and Employment Law?

Because advocacy without structure leads to limitation.

Because awareness without compliance leads to risk.

And because true inclusion must be rooted in law, policy, and leadership accountability.

As a parent of an Autistic son, I have lived the reality that many families quietly navigate every day. But instead of asking systems to be ethical—we made a decision to understand the system itself.

We studied.

We learned.

We positioned ourselves to operate within—and influence—the framework.

That journey is also why I have made the personal decision to sit for the LSAT at the end of 2026.

Not for title.

Not for prestige.

But for precision in advocacy and protection.

I have also been incredibly fortunate to walk this journey alongside a husband who understands that parenting in this space is not passive—it is strategic, intentional, and rooted in unity.

And let me be clear for every leader reading this:

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is not an inconvenience.
It is LAW.

When leaders fail to understand this, they do not just fail employees—
they expose organizations to unnecessary risk, liability, and cultural decline.

Human Resources was never designed to be reactive.

It was designed to be protective, strategic, and preventative.

So as we move beyond this month, I challenge leaders:

Move beyond awareness into education

Move beyond accommodation into structured compliance

Move beyond conversation into actionable leadership

Because the workforce is evolving…

And leadership must evolve with it.

Autism Awareness Month is more than a moment, it’s a movement. It’s about lifting voices that are too often overlooked, and choosing to listen, truly listen, to those who deserve to be heard.

This April, we honor something powerful.

Meet Aaliyah Alicia Thompson and her twin sisters, Aniah and Anijah Byrd three Black autistic women who didn’t wait for the world to make space for them they created their own.

Through their business, aaliyahbeautybar__nail_school in Jonesboro, Georgia, they are doing far more than beauty. They are building a sanctuary. A place where natural hair is celebrated, where education is accessible, and where every person regardless of ability or background is seen, valued, and embraced.

In an industry that has too often excluded Black women and ignored neurodiverse voices, these sisters are rewriting the narrative with courage and intention. They are breaking barriers, shifting standards, and proving that inclusion isn’t something you ask for it’s something you live out loud.

Their journey is rooted in love, resilience, and sisterhood. It’s a reminder that when the world doesn’t make room for you, you don’t shrink you build bigger tables.

This is more than a business.
This is advocacy.
This is representation.
This is what happens when purpose meets passion.

And it’s nothing short of extraordinary. 💙

ONE thing is certain and two things can be true. The Math is not Mathing....

✨We spent this weekend combing through some IDEA expenditures (we received one year of expenditures from the district and are awaiting the rest).

✨Here is what we have found in our research this weekend:

-IDEA funding is intended to add to existing ESE programs. This funding is intended to supplement and cover excess costs
-The intention of the IDEA funding is to give students more resources, more therapist, more curriculum in order to be successful in their educational journey.

✨The following expenditures our team has been able to argue valid reasons for but also argue against. Which led us to ask: If the goal is to further the success of students, is every spending decision in alignment to progress towards that goal?

-“furniture for office” $3,484
-“chair” $416
-“chair mat” $110
- “chair caster wheels” $407
-“4 HP Laptops for staff” $3,610
-“10 iPad mini 64GB” $4,440
- “apple care+” $790 (possibly x’s 2 as the following line was for the same amount from apple as well

✨Next is travel expenses which is very much discouraged for IDEA funding expenditures. While it could be argued it is for professional development, the names mostly noted on travel were all the same administrator names and some descriptions are for conferences.

✨We haven’t gone through the salaries of the Pay type 9 yet either. But there are a few we have already noted.

✨Our teachers have expressed wanting professional development, meanwhile executives are traveling all over spending over $11,000.

✨Parents have reported denial of curriculum, materials, and therapies due to lack of funding. Yet we have found charges ranging from “office supplies” up to furniture for offices in this expenditure report.

✨This grant funding is intended to support our students and to ensure the resources and therapists are paid. It is clear that the district is required to pay what they would to have run an ESE program and this funding is to provide for any excess. It’s to add to our students education.

✨However, therapists are paid well below competitive pay, teachers are denied professional development, and our students are the ones suffering.

✨We must protect our public school resources and treasure them as good financial stewards would.

✨So, is every choice that is being made to further our goal of having successful students?

I am truly honored to be invited to participate as a panelist for Autism Awareness Month, hosted by the distinguished:

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Alpha Upsilon Zeta Chapter.

This conversation—“Autism and Us: Supporting, Educating, and Empowering”—is not just timely, but necessary. As a Human Resources Executive supporting inclusion in the workfore and educationa also a parent of a neurodivergent son, I understand firsthand the intersection between advocacy, leadership, and accountability.

Creating inclusive environments is not simply about awareness—it is about action, education, and sustainable systems that support individuals and families impacted by autism.

I look forward to contributing to a meaningful dialogue that bridges community, leadership, and workforce inclusion.
