Calling Everyone interested in the best Concealed Weapons Course. On Saturday 9/9/23 from 8-noon, I will be hosting a CCW course at
St.Petersburg College, Allstate Campus.
As most of you know, Florida is going to Constitutional carry on 7/1/23. Since the passing of this legislation, I have been asked many times if there is still an advantage to getting your permit, and the answer is ABSOLUTELY.
The reasons that you will want to get a permit are:
1. With a permit, you can purchase a firearm from a dealer and take it home that day (no waiting period).
2. You can travel to other states that honor your Florida permit and carry concealed (reciprocity). States with reciprocity do not recognize Florida's Constitutional carry statute.
3. The federal "Gun Free School Zone" laws are somewhat inapplicable if you have a permit. https://www.congress.gov/.../101st.../senate-bill/2070/text (This does not mean you can carry a firearm on school property, it just deals with being within 1000 feet of a school zone with a firearm) Also see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVcio6-3nKA
4. In some jurisdictions, prosecutors have been arguing that carrying a firearm without a permit suggests that you are an irresponsible gun owner.
5. By taking a course, you learn valuable information about safety, self-defense, and other issues and responsibilities that come with gun ownership.

Because the state of Florida is now a Constitutional-carry state, it is now more important than ever to understand the laws of self-defense as the legislature eliminated the training requirement for Constitutional carry. However, being able to carry is a small part of the big picture. Have you ever thought about what would happen if I ever had to use a firearm in self-defense? Well, I have course that explains just that. This 4-hour course goes well beyond any class you may have taken in the past because, as an attorney and police officer that has represented many law enforcement officers involved in duty-related shootings, I have the knowledge and experience to explain Florida statutes that can be a bit confusing at times. Also, do not forget about the educational portion of the dos and don'ts of using a firearm in self-defense. The course is a one-of-a-kind in Florida and is taught at Florida Fi****ms Academy. This is a must-class if you want to protect yourself from prosecution if you ever find yourself using your firearm for self-defense. The next class is 1/7/23. My class, "Before and After the Smoke Clears" has found a new venue. As a reminder, the class is about what you need to consider when carrying a firearm for self-defense. The course is designed to inform people of the dos and don'ts of the consequences of using a firearm in self-defense. The class has gotten great reviews and are from 9am-1pm at Florida Fi****ms Academy https://ffatampa.com/ on Hillsborough Ave. The cost for the course is $100 and is a must if you want to learn what other classes do not teach.
