SEND/Hosbrook St/Norwood

Due to being snowed in, I was on the computer more and I came across the Indy in the 50s video put out by WISH TV’s Mike Ahern back in 1998. Here’s the link: https://www.pbs.org/video/wfyi-local-productions-indy-50s/.
In it, he mentions all the city’s high schools except Wood and Sacred Heart. Now Mike graduated from Cathedral—so maybe he saw Sacred Heart as a rival.
But Wood? Now, it’s not like Wood opened on December 30, 1959 and so could not be a school considered around in the 1950’s. Opening in September of 1953 put Wood squarely in the decade. So why was Wood ignored?
Well, we all know why… It was not by mistake, and it’s hurtful.
So, let’s keep our alumni association strong, and make sure Indy does not forget the Woodchucks!

Sept 4 Real Talk on Indy’s Ed Scene with John Harris Loflin

On Sept. 4 John and Harambe show (click link below) discussed:
1) global human rights for children,
2) education for citizenship, the issue of
3) bi-cultural families and the disconnect created when the culture the student brings the school is different than the school's culture thus the attempt by schools to colonize/ assimilate students from bicultural families.
4) teaching students to community organize,
5) the role of the Indy Chamber in the privatization of IPS
6) schools are political sites and going to school is a political act, and
7) discipline and its relationship to education for liberation.
