We tell our students to "practice," but when was the last time we told ourselves to "play?" 👀 Improvisation isn't just a skill—it's a way to connect with the instrument and create away from the printed page, embracing the freedom of harmonies, textures and themes. And it's a beautiful gift to share with our students.
At the Piano Teacher Reset, we’re putting away the sight-reading and rediscovering the joy of play, improvisation and creating at the piano. Reconnect with your inner artist in a no-judgment atmosphere and leave with inspiration and tools to take back to your students.
🕰️ Registration opens Monday, June 22! Comment RESET and we'll send you the waitlist signup so you can snag our beautiful guide to rediscovering joy at the piano, so you can get a head-start on your reset. ☺️
We are hijacking CPP’s social media to host a gift shower for Elizabeth and her husband as they embark on a foster/adoption journey! They could have up to 3 children as soon as July! 🥹💕
No judgment for no make-up Friday. 😁😁😁

🤩 We’ve been a little MIA over here because we’ve been busy drinking coffee, finalizing Piano Teacher Reset details for this summer’s virtual retreat and checking big items off our list!
It’s been great to have Tara and her amazing daughter, Savannah visit South Carolina for a few days and I’m not sure who enjoyed it more- the humans or Rory, who thoroughly took advantage of all the attention 😂 (scroll 👉 for 🤦♀️🤣)

Improvising can feel incredibly intimidating! How do you know where to even begin?? Dr. Louie Hehman from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky joins Elizabeth to break that myth wide open by encouraging teachers to use the simplest elements to start - for themselves and their students! .hehman
🎶 Isn’t it amazing that we can take a simple chord progression, add a little RH melody and it results in something beautiful and memorable? 🥲
“Slow down, you’re doing fine…” is SUCH an appropriate reminder for teachers at the end of the school year.
☀️ If you feel the need to slow down and do some creating and playing of your own so you can feel refreshed for your students, comment JOIN and we’ll send you the link to join our virtual retreat waitlist.
☀️ Music doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful, and creating at the piano doesn’t have to be perfect to bring you joy- sometimes we just need to remember that we’re artists, too.
Tiny soapbox moment. I’ll admit, when I saw this headline I 🙄 🤦♀️ because the clickbait is real, but the assumptions here are quite grand indeed. To assume that…
Music study has somehow always been strict and something to dread or abhor?
That this is the very first teacher to EVER reinvent the wheel and teach with intentional creativity and individuality for each learner? 🤦♀️
I’m a natural questioner/skeptic and a “show me the data/research” gal, but I’m still not buying it. 😏 Because I (Elizabeth) personally know SO so many teachers who have been making music lessons enjoyable for decades! This isn’t a new concept for most (and for those who identify with the strict, unimaginative teaching described in the clip- I’m sorry that has been your experience, truly.)
*exiting soapbox* 😅 Keep doing what you’re doing, friends! Keep working to make lessons engaging, personable, individualized and full of life and creativity! 🎶
