Proud to spend time Saturday morning, down the ocean at in Ocean City, Maryland with Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman cleaning up the shoreline and dunes. America’s best governor joined in, Gov. Wes Moore!
As part of the Comptroller’s Community Corps, we picked up glass, plastics, and general waste to protect Maryland's coastal environment.
The Comptroller has been dedicated to zero-waste policies, including past sponsorship of the Plastic Bag Reduction Act as a state delegate. She championed efforts to ban expanded polystyrene food service containers in Maryland - the first in the nation!
We are honored to have time with the Gov to share an intiative our sister social enterprise CannabizMD has launched, “Initiative 183”, dedicated to ensuring that cannabis policy law, policy, and science education is implemented to support Maryland Chapter 183 (Senate Bill 149), the first in the nation state law delivering employment protections for first responders using medical cannabis. The law goes into effect October 1, 2026 without an education plan in place.
Many of our first responders’ are veterans whose service “earned” PTSD is compounded by their brave work as first responders. Medical cannabis does deliver therapeutic benefits for managing the symptoms of PTSD. Our first responders and their employers, state municipalities, need to know the potential therapeutic benefits and harms along with federal and state cannabis laws.
As a very proud daughter of an Amy Purple Heart Veteran who stormed the beaches of Normandy at 17 yo, the CannabizMD initiative honors our and CannabizMD CEO/Founder Jacquie Cohen Roth’s dad’s legacy as a man of science, strong character, and sound reason thousands of veterans and first responders like her dad.
As an Army Veteran, the Gov expressed great interest in this very necessary education plan where none currently exists.
Stay tuned for updates on CannabizMD Initiative183. Please DM to support.
