Let’s talk about GARLIC! 🧄

Crushing, chopping or creaming garlic does more than change its texture! Breaking open those cells triggers a little kitchen chemistry, forming allicin, the sulfur compound behind garlic’s signature bite & many of its studied benefits.

My trick? 🧄🧂 Cream it with a pinch of salt. It creates a smooth paste with BIG garlic flavor that distributes beautifully through dressings, sauces, marinades & garlic butter.

Tummy trouble? Garlic is high in fructans, a FODMAP. Try garlic-infused olive oil instead. You get that beautiful garlic flavor without the fructans found in the garlic itself.

A little technique + a little nutrition science = big flavor

One of the easiest food safety habits takes less than a minute. 🥬💦

Washing fresh produce as soon as it comes home from the store has always been one of my favorite kitchen habits. Even if it’s labeled “pre-washed” or comes in a bag, giving fruits and vegetables an extra rinse under cool running water is a simple step that can help remove dirt and reduce the chance of unwanted contaminants.

With recent Cyclospora outbreaks making headlines, it’s a great reminder that food safety starts before the first bite.

Chef Suz tip ✨
Don’t forget the foods you don’t eat the peel on. Melons, avocados, and citrus can carry dirt and bacteria on the outside that transfer to the flesh when you cut into them.

Chef Suz tip ✨
Give leafy greens a little extra attention. Separate the leaves and rinse thoroughly—dirt and debris love to hide in the folds.

Chef Suz tip ✨
Make washing produce the first thing you do when you get home from the store. Future you will thank you when healthy ingredients are clean, prepped, and ready to use.

Sometimes the simplest recipes are the ones you’ll make all summer long. 🍈☀️

Ever wonder what the flat attachment on your food processor is for? It’s the secret to my light, fluffy 60-second whipped cream.

Fresh, juicy melon, a pinch of Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Seasoning, & homemade whipped cream create the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, creamy, & refreshing.

My favorite combinations:
🍈 Cantaloupe + dairy whipped cream
🍉 Watermelon + coconut whipped cream

It’s quick, healthy, naturally hydrating, & just sweet enough to satisfy without weighing you down. Save this one for your next summer gathering or an easy afternoon treat.
