EE - The Extended Essay Participants must complete all lab work essential to their EE outside of workshop hours if applicable. The design of the research question, materials, and research will be a focus. The outlining, drafting and revision of the Extended Essay will be guided and reviewed by a professional. A tight schedule will be adhered to throughout this program. Required meetings and feedback will also be provided. Research and strategy may be assisted, but the product of the essay is the goal. Once registered we become the participants EE advisor and assist in all faucets necessary to EE completion.
CAS - Creativity, Action, Service CAS experiences and projects are to be completed outside the walls of the schools and can be done throughout the summer. The time-consuming recording and organization of the documentation of these activities will be completed in this workshop. Reflections, supporting evidence, and work on Managebac will be guided and checked throughout the program. Assistance in grouping, organizing, locating and completion of a CAS project will also be a focus. Our goal is for CAS to be completely up-to-date entering Senior year.
Practicum ~ As a graduation requirement, every student must complete The STEM Practicum. This process helps to further develop critical thinking and practical work skills. The career exploration must be completed outside of the building in a career placement. The documentation and paperwork can be completed and organized after the students have completed their practicum experience. Our goal is, if possible, schedule the participant’s exit interview for “complete” completion of Practicum.
Summer Work Summer readings for any necessary courses will be accomplished with text support, structure, and assistance. Novels for English courses will be read and discussed with additional enrichment of topics of characterization, general plot analysis, and some historical context. Other summer coursework will be attacked per with strategies and management techniques. Other course’s readings will be supported with context, analysis and discussion when applicable. Support will be provided for additional summer work and assignments as necessary or requested.
Workshop Atmosphere We strive for an informal, structured collaborative (and yes FUN) environment! We lead the workshop, yet we strive for participants to create a support system for these tasks through working with each other towards a common goal. Our workshop aim is each of YOU! In 70 short hours, A HAPPIER, RELIEVED, MUCH LESS STRESSED SENIOR.
