Swami Prajñananda Saraswati
Yoga & Meditation Teacher
Teacher Trainer at Svaroopa Vidya Ashram I am a Teacher Trainer at Svaroopa Vidya Ashram. I teach both yoga & meditation.
My joy and goal is to share what my Guru, Gurudevi Nirmalananda has given to me. This yoga is amazing and I would love to share it with you. 🙏
Come join me at our ashram as I eat breakfast on our second floor terrace.
Our ashram, Svaroopa Vidya Ashram, is right in the middle of town which means our presence is felt even if people aren’t coming for our programs. It also means we need to make the best use of our space. Along with the swamis and Gurudevi living here, we have local yoga classes, meditation programs, onsite staff and we house students for onsite immersions.
It’s really awesome to be so integrated in our community with students and staff and visitors. And it’s also nice to have some special spaces to spend time. The terrace is definitely one of them. Thanks for joining me. And if you come in person, you can check it out for yourself! And maybe we could even have a tea or a chat together. ☺️🍵🌸☀️☁️
Here is a Satsang Highlight from Gurudevi’s discourse tonight:
“When you find your center, your own Beingness, things come and things go. When they come you welcome them, even when they are hard. When they go, you bless them and say thank you.
More things will come and more things will go.” - Gurudevi Nirmalananda
What a beautiful way to live. And a promise as you do more yoga.

We had a seva day today at our Ashram. We painted our outdoor tables in bright cheery colors. It was fun. And messy! I’ve learned a bit more about how to spray paint and the Ashram now has beautiful tables that the residents and visitors can enjoy. ✨
I remember before moving into the ashram, seva was such a meaningful way for me to feel and be connected to the Ashram and to Gurudevi. I really cherished the opportunity. Now that I live at the Ashram, my life is, more and more, becoming seva.
Seva is a way to offer your time and skills without expectation to get anything back.
Gurudevi says, “Seva means to serve without selfish motive. It’s an attitude shift. It’s a subtle attitude shift. The more subtle that something is, the more powerful it is”
- Gurudevi Nirmalananda, “When Do I Do My Yoga?”, June 2008
It is very powerful, especially when you do it for the Ashram and for the Guru. When you help out using your skills, offering your time, you are letting yoga touch that part of your life, that part that you maybe didn’t consider was yogic. It’s a way to take your practice out of your yoga room, off of your meditation seat and into your life.

The Sutra Study course I’m teaching is called Taking Care of Your Mind. And this will be the second class, this time focusing on bringing your mind back to its home in your heart.
I love writing about the principles of Consciousness. It’s a way to stream Consciousness through my mind… so ecstatic!
Teaching puts me in the flow of grace to understand the teachings more enough to share them with others. I feel so much gratitude for the opportunity that my Guru has given me. 🙏
While this course is already underway, I have another mediation course next month titled Meditation Mantra Magic starting July 13. All are welcome! I would love to see you there. https://svaroopa.org/mantra-magic

I am teaching a new Sutra Studies course this week called Taking Care of Your Mind. Since this is the first time I’m teaching this one, I am writing a brand new 45 minute discourse for each class. So it’s been a lot of late nights!
But you know, I love to write. I feel like when I teach I am the one that learns the most. I have to understand the topic even more than if I was just learning for myself. I need to digest the information and then share it in a simple, easy and engaging way. This is a sadhana in itself. And I truly feel grateful for the opportunity. ✨🙏

What a delight to spend the weekend in San Diego, hosted by my lovely yogi sisters Sudevi and Anita. We had a Yoga for Stress Relief program on Friday and a Half Day program on Saturday. Both Grace-filled!
While yoga is all about doing your inner work, it’s not completely a solo venture. Having a community that is on the same path is so supportive.
Thank you again Sudevi and Anita for having me. And what fun to play on Sunday together- full on the inside already and simply enjoying each others company and the play of the ocean and yummy food ☺️✨💛
I think this is the best way to live- feeling full and whole on the inside while experiencing that same joy on the outside. And while life is not always beach and ice cream, I think if we always focus on recentering and finding wholeness on the inside first, we can recognize that same fullness even when life has its tests and challenges. For that, we can take Gurudevi’s advice and “do more yoga”!
Gurudevi shared in her discourse tonight the importance of shining our light into the world. For if all those who were cultivating their ability to shine with light left the world, what type of world would we be living in?
I personally always love how a single candle flame lights up a whole room. And the impact of that single flame is even greater when it is in the dark. That single flame would still be beautiful in a bright room, but when the room is dark, that flame makes all the difference.
We are those flames! When we cultivate our inner state, the light of our own Beingness shines forth. And it makes a difference, especially when things aren’t perfect in the world. Any bit of light makes a difference.
So shine on my friends ✨✨✨

“The grace of the Guru is never ineffective. Nature can be reversed, the sun can stop shedding its heat and the moon lose its coolness, water can stop flowing, the night can become day and day become night, but once you receive the grace of a Siddha, it never goes to waste.”
- Swami Muktananda
Yoga teaches you how to live a grace-filled life. It’s the best way to live.
Grace is God’s power of revelation - always available. Yet, we don’t know how to live in the flow. When you study with a Siddha, a great being, they bring the grace to you. The most significant of which is receiving Shaktipat, the initiation awakening your own enlightenment energy within. This is truly receiving the grace of a Siddha. Your spiritual progress from that moment forward is assured.
The peacock feather is a reminder for me of Guru’s grace because my Guru, Gurudevi Nirmalananda, uses them when she holds Shaktipat Retreats. The peacock feather is a great conductor of the energy of grace that flows so strongly during this initiation.
Here is more information on Gurudevi and what she offers, including Shaktipat.
