We paid a visit to our very own Art Gallery’s A.F.A. Foundations Exhibition which opened today!

Each year the A.F.A. Foundations Exhibition showcases the foundational coursework that supports our A.F.A. degrees — and highlights the incredible work produced by students across all majors. These classes give every student, no matter what their future goals might be, the chance to build skills, experiment and discover their own creativity.

Whether you’re pursuing an A.F.A. degree or exploring a new skill outside your major, this is just one of the many ways that you can pursue what inspires you at DCCC.

Visit the A.F.A. Foundations Exhibition before it closes on October 9! The Gallery is located on the College’s Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA 19063), in Room 2305 of the Academic Building.

DCCC Community! The College will be closed from Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Attention students and those who planned to visit the College Thursday morning, August 20: the College buildings and services at all locations will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in preparation for fall semester, which starts on Monday, August 24.

When Katy Gallagher of West Chester first enrolled at DCCC, she wasn’t sure what to expect. “I hadn’t loved being in a classroom during my high school days, and I chose to drop out and earn my GED instead,” she says. “I definitely had some trepidation.” However, she quickly began to feel at home. “The classes are small, the other students are supportive, and the professors take the time to get to know you.” She also found—to her surprise—that a required introductory class, Communications 101, ended up being one of her favorites. “My professor, Dr. Tanya Gardner, offered me the opportunity to work on an interesting research project with the Ardmore Library,” Katy says. “I enjoyed the work, made some new friends, and found a terrific mentor in Dr. Gardner.”

A Paralegal Studies major who also works 32-40 hours a week, Katy has the following advice for prospective students who wonder if they can juggle work with college studies: “Take it one step at a time. Enroll in one class—just to get going. You’ll see what you can handle, and you’ll be able to add more classes as you go along. The important thing is to get started.” Keep up the good work, Katy!
