Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program- FYSCP

Last week, we hosted “Your Future Matters” at Rio Hondo College, bringing together 50 students from nine high schools across Lynwood, El Rancho, ABC, Hacienda-La Puente and El Monte!🤩

Students connected with six community colleges including Cerritos College, East Los Angeles College, Saddleback College, Mt. San Antonio College, Long Beach City College and Rio Hondo, along with California State University, Los Angeles and California State University, Dominguez Hills.

They explored career pathways with the Army, Navy, Rio Hondo CTE, Fire and Police Academies, the AJCC workforce investment board where 10 students signed up for job placement support, and the L.A. County Board of Supervisors Youth Commission.

Through CalKIDS, we helped more than 18 students confirm eligibility for over $10,000 in free college savings funds! This is what partnership looks like!💰

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed since 1949. The purpose is to increase awareness of the importance of our own mental health and overall wellness.

Today, now more than ever is this such a critical time to pay attention to our own mind, body and spirit. It is imperative that we seek help, if needed and to know it's OKAY to do so.

Many of our youth and children in foster care face many mental health issues and with the help of their support teams, we hope their mental health improves and they continue to thrive.

Join us in celebrating month all month long! Remember, it's okay to say that you're not okay. Your feelings and emotions are valid.
