Just another day in the Spartan Design Lab! 🛠️💡

Our Design & Modeling students took on an Instant Design Challenge: rapidly prototype an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) for a child with cerebral palsy.

Students analyzed the design problem, developed ideas, and used 3D modeling software to help create and refine their solutions—all while working under a time constraint.

This is what engineering looks like: empathy, creativity, problem-solving, and rapid prototyping coming together to design for a real human need.

Just another day in the lab for these amazing young engineers! 💛🖤

Come Cheer on Spartan Design at the Stauffer Challenge! 🤖🏆

Join us for an exciting day of robotics as Stauffer Middle School hosts the Stauffer Challenge VEX V5 Robotics Competition: Override!

Middle school robotics teams will compete throughout the day, putting their engineering, programming, teamwork, and strategy skills to the test.

Come cheer on our Spartan Design Robotics teams as they represent Stauffer against teams from across the region!

Nothing says Back to School like rolling out a fresh set of VEX field mats! 🤖✨

The classroom is starting to come together, and that first look at a brand-new competition field always brings the excitement. Soon these mats will be covered with robots, strategy sessions, driver practice, and plenty of learning.

Here's to a new season, new challenges, and watching our students grow as engineers, programmers, and leaders. Let's make this our best year yet!

🛠️ CNC DAY! Let's go!! 🚀

Today our Spartan Design students got hands-on experience using a CNC machine for the very first time! Under the guidance of our mentors, students learned how digital designs become real parts as they operated the X-Carve Pro and watched their creations come to life.

There's something special about seeing a student go from designing on a computer screen to manufacturing an actual competition robot part. These are the moments that turn builders into engineers.

From CAD to CNC, our students are gaining real-world skills that will help them throughout the robotics season and beyond.

🚀 Meet Giselle, one of the newest members of Spartan Design!

Today she finished building her very first drivetrain during summer camp, and that's a moment every robotics competitor remembers. Whether it's your first drivetrain, first program, first CAD model, or first competition, those milestones are special because they're where the journey begins.

Giselle has been absolutely crushing it this summer, learning new skills, asking great questions, and putting in the work. We know this is just the first of many accomplishments to come.

As competitors, we all know to cherish our firsts—they're the foundation for everything that follows. Great job, Giselle! 💙🤖💛

Another productive day at Spartan Design Summer Camp! 🤖⚙️

We're making tremendous progress as we prepare for the upcoming VEX V5RC Override season. Half of our teams have already completed the first working version of their modified HeroBots, while the remaining teams are quickly approaching completion.

Beyond building, every team has been programming their robots, documenting their engineering process, and developing their CAD skills using OnShape. Our newest members are learning what it takes to be part of a competitive robotics team—from building their first drivetrain and designing subsystems in CAD to writing text-based C++ code for robot control.

The robots are getting wired, tested, and prepared for future scrimmages, and it's exciting to see ideas turn into functioning machines.

A special highlight today was learning how to use our X-Carve Pro CNC machine. Mentor Allen taught students how we can manufacture custom polycarbonate parts for our competition robots, giving them a glimpse into real-world engineering and fabrication techniques.

A huge thank you to our mentors; WarBot's Gustavo and Pete, SoCal Alliance's Tobias Allen, and Jordan for sharing their time, expertise, and passion with our students. Their mentorship continues to elevate our program and inspire the next generation of engineers.

The future is taking shape one robot at a time, and things are really moving along!

Another great day at Spartan Design Summer Camp! 🤖☀️

Today, we were joined by several of our recently promoted alumni — Jessica, Jericho, Arham, and Jake — who came back to help mentor the next generation of Spartans. We were also fortunate to have Warren WarBots mentors Joud and Santiago, along with SoCal Alliance (SCA) VEX U members Tobias, Danny, and Allen sharing their knowledge and experience.

Our students accomplished a lot today: building new drivetrains, programming autonomous routines, troubleshooting robots, and even repairing broken controllers. Every day brings new challenges and new opportunities to learn, and our campers continue to impress us with their dedication and growth.

It's inspiring to see our alumni and robotics community come together to support these future competitors. The excitement for the upcoming VEX V5RC Override season is building, and we're already gearing up for competition this fall!

Stay tuned for announcements about this year's Stauffer Challenge tournaments. We can't wait to welcome teams back to Stauffer for another incredible season of robotics competition.

Summer Camp is one of our favorite times of the year! 🤖☀️

A huge thank you to the Warren WarBots students who have volunteered their time to support our Spartan Design campers. Their mentorship gives our students a firsthand look at this year's VEX V5RC game, Override, while helping them develop the skills and mindset needed for a successful season.

It's especially exciting to spend time with our alumni, many of whom got their start right here at Stauffer before continuing their robotics journey in high school. Seeing them come back to give back to the next generation reminds us what Spartan Design is all about.

Thank you, mentors, for sharing your experience, leadership, and passion for robotics. The future of Spartan Design is bright because of you!
