Prairieview is getting some improvements this summer! The flooring in our main hallways is original to the building, and is being replaced to match the new flooring in the gym and multi-purpose room. Thank you to our district for investing in building improvements for our students!

On Friday, we held our annual Field Day events, which included the Kona Ice Truck & our Panther Picnic with Shadow. Thank you to the dozens of parent volunteers who made this event possible, and to Mrs. Cushing for putting all the planning into the day. Students from our SASED classroom joined us as well. Thank you to Mrs. Mandru's class for showing so much kindness by including them. Lydia, Diar, and Scarlett made personal efforts to be inclusive. Thanks to Evie, a 3rd grader who cleaned up so much trash left behind before starting her own picnic! And finally, to Team 66 for providing the Kona Ice truck. Much needed on this warm day! Special shout-out to 5th graders Zadie, Nora, Eliana, and Elsie for serving as our honorary mascot, Shadow!

Yesterday, author Amy Logan, author of "A Girl With a Cape," visited our Panthers to provide presentations to each of our grade levels. She delivered a powerful message that each of us matters, and that we could change the world with Kindness. Additionally, the Indian Prairie Public Library visited to share information about their summer reading program. Thank you, Mrs. Csorba, for organizing and coordinating all of this. Your love for literacy is contagious!

Yesterday I had the privilege of welcoming Grant and Evie as our Principal and Assistant Principal of the day. While I do not do this often, Grant didn't have the good luck of winning our Team 66 Super Raffle, but went to great efforts to raise money to help improve our school. It's exactly this kind of self-direction and giving your best that makes our school so special. He chose Evie as his "assistant principal" because of how kind she is to all students. We visited classrooms, lunch and recess, then enjoyed some pizza together. Thanks, Grant and Evie, for caring so much about our school!!
