Whether you're looking to learn the language from the start, need extra help with a class, or are just looking for enrichment, I can help. I embarked on my lifelong love of the French language and culture in middle school. After being motivated by some amazing teachers in high school, I decided to do a double major in French and History at Indiana University. I spent my Junior year studying in Str
asbourg, truly soaking up the language and culture. From there I earned both a M.A. and a Ph.D. in French Linguistics from the University of Texas while teaching French classes at the University. My area of specialty was Sociolinguistics but I also took courses in Syntax, Phonology, History of the Language, and Literature. While in graduate school I won a grant to develop teaching materials and also received a teaching award. Upon completing my degrees I established a private tutoring business while living in Connecticut. A few years later, family and a move to Downers Grove put a temporary pause on my teaching career. More recently, I have spent the last three years teaching lunch-time and after-school French classes at area elementary schools as well as tutoring privately. I have been doing small group classes and private tutoring through Zoom since March. I have traveled extensively in France over the years and love to share my excitement for and knowledge of the French language and culture with my students, whether they be pre-schoolers or adults or anything in between.
