Congratulations to the 18 students from DGN who hae been selected to perform with the Illinois Music Education Assn. ILMEA District 1 Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Bands! These students were selected through competitive audition with hundreds of other students in our district. We are so proud of their hard work, their passion for music, and we are thrilled that they will be representing our band program in these ensembles!

The Trojan Marching Band had their competitive performance at the 2026 Music Bowl hosted by our friends in the DGS Bands on Saturday. We had a great experience, got excellent feedback from the judges, and enjoyed spending the day together watching other great bands from all over Illinois. A special thanks to our volunteers who helped uniforms, props, and moving front ensemble equipment - you played a huge part in the students’ success! Catch the final performance of “Our New World” this Friday, during halftime at the home football game versus LTHS!

DGN Homecoming 2026 was jam-packed with our favorite traditions; from the Morning Steps Show, to the pep rally and the parade, the Alumni Band, and so much more! We’re especially proud of Tanav, Owen, and Violet for being nominated as Homecoming Court, and Owen and Violet being Homecoming Royalty! It was a long day, a fun day, and another Homecoming worth remembering. The Trojan Marching Band only has 2 weeks left in the season; don’t miss your chance to see them at the DGS Music Bowl this Saturday, or at our last home game next Friday! You won’t be disappointed!

Band Camp 2026 came to a close tonight, and that meant putting more halftime drill and music on the field; awarding our Golden Speedsters and the Golden Shako to our best marcher, Josh, and best newcomer, Aidan; watching Hope win the annual Friday morning march off; playing through our favorite stands tunes; working in more sectional time; walking the trust tunnels; having music ensemble block; and racing the snapping circles. Thank you to the students for your hard work, all the laughs, and all the friendship; thank you to our leaders for their stewardship of their sections; thank you to our staff for their guidance and wisdom; and thank you to the families who volunteered, carpooled, and packed lunches for their unending support. It was a good week. We got better.
