Year #6 for Library Mini Golf is in the record books! We hope everyone had fun getting to know the library in our signature weird way. Congrats to our gift card drawing winner, Jack Williams (not in the video), and remember, teamwork makes the dream work. Or work smarter, not harder. Or something like that.

Today we are sad to see the passing of the great friend to libraries and literacy, the incomparable Dolly Parton. Dolly said, "If I'm remembered 100 years from now, I hope it will not be for looks, but for books." We don't think there's any question that she'll be remembered for the hundreds of millions of books that her Imagination LIbrary has put into the hands of children, but also for her kindness.

Unfortunately, Steve's Run has had to be cancelled for the safety of all participants. We can still help achieve the goals of the event, though!!

Steve's Run is named in honor of Steven Briegel, the son of former Southwestern Michigan College president David Briegel. Steve died in 1990 at the age of 22 after a five-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was a 1986 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School and had played basketball, golf, and in the band for the Chieftains. He graduated with honors from SMC and was a junior in the Ferris at SMC program at the time of his death.

After Steve’s passing, SMC’s annual Road and Trail Race, which began in 1972, was renamed Steve’s Run and was dedicated to honor all who have fought or are still fighting cancer, with proceeds being split evenly between cancer research and the Steven Briegel Scholarship.In the last 16 years alone, Steve's Run has raised over $300,000 for cancer research and student scholarships!

In the past academic year, we helped connect 272 students with food and hygiene items through the Roadrunner Kitchen! If you're interested in helping us support students in this way, there are several ways to contribute.
