Green Dance Company Green Dance Company is a nonprofit, competitive and performing dance team affiliated with Green Dance Academy. SOON TO BE GREEN DANCE COMPANY!

Serving kids from 1st grade to seniors, it nurtures talent, promotes artistic growth, and fosters a love for dance in a supportive community. Positively Dance is a performance group comprised of dancers from various communities in Southwest Michigan. These dancers take classes at Green Dance Academy, with studios in Dowagiac, Decatur, and Niles. They share their love of dance by performing at many

local events each year and also give back to the community throughout the year as well. Some of our members are also part of a competition team which competes both regionally and nationally. On this page you will find information on upcoming events and performances by our troupe. Please contact Green Dance Academy directly for more information!

Congratulations to our 2026 GDC Seniors!!

From left to right:

Jossalyn Bishop - graduated from Decatur High School - Jossalyn will be finishing her Associates of Science degree then transferring to Lake Superior State University for her Bachelors in Forensics.

Olivia Stockwell - graduated from Dowagiac Union High School - Olivia will be attending Spring Arbor University for a degree in Marketing.

Ryelyn Duncan - graduated from Decatur High School - Ryelyn will be attending
Southwestern Michigan College/Ferris University for a Bachelors in Science and a Masters in Education.

Katelyn Athey - graduated from Decatur High School - Katelyn will be attending Lake Michigan College for general studies then transferring to Central Michigan University for her Bachelors in Science and Nursing.

Even though a couple of these girls still have Nationals coming up at the end of this month, we will miss all of our Seniors dearly. Best wishes to these four in their next exciting chapter of life!

Meet Purple Team member, Rhylee Martin.

Rhylee recently finished her 6th grade year at Dowagiac Middle School and 3rd year of dance. Rhylee's favorite subjects in school are Band and Choir and her favorite style of dance is Jazz. She loves the color green. Hazbin Hotel is one of Rhylee's favorite series to watch when she has extra time and drawing and dance are her favorite hobbies! Her favorite dance memory is her very first dance recital. Rhylee's biggest dislikes are math, insects and pudding. An interesting fact about her is that she can play the violin.

Meet Purple Team member, Jossalyn Bishop.

Jossalyn just recently graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur and just completed her 14th and final year of dance this year. Jossalyn's favorite subject in school is Science/Chemistry and her favorite style of dance is Lyrical. She loves the color blue. The Twisted Series by Ana Huang is Jossalyn's favorite book series to read when she has down time and reading is her favorite hobby! Her favorite dance memory is the 2025 musical theater recital dance with the wig sn**ch . Jossalyn's biggest dislikes are history classes and cold weather. An interesting fact about her is that she is in the Early Middle College program majoring in chemistry and was in concert band for 7 years playing clarinet.

Meet Green Team member, Katelyn Athey.

Katelyn just recently graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur and just completed her 15th and final year of dance this year. Katelyn's favorite subject in school is History (her teacher made the class really fun) and her favorite style of dance is Lyrical. She loves the color light blue. The Glass Castle is Katelyn's favorite book and Ferris Beuller is her favorite movie. Katelyn's favorite hobby, is enjoying a good bonfire with friends on a nice night! Her favorite dance memories are being with her teammates during competitions and playing card games with them and being goofy when they have downtime. Katelyn's biggest dislike is earthworms. An interesting fact about her is that she was enrolled in the Law Enforcement program at the VBC Votech Center this school year and is also trained in EMR and EMT through the VBC Votech Center when she was a Junior in high school.

Meet Purple Team member, Kayla Horter.

Kayla is a 7th grader a Ring Lardner Middle School in Niles and has been dancing for 8 years. Her favorite style of dance is Clogging and favorite subject in school is math. When not dancing, Kayla loves playing volleyball and watching movies and really dislikes it when she is woken up ffrom a good sleep. The movie series Decendants is top on her list. Kayla's favorite colors are artic blue and fushia. One of her favorite dance memories is performing on stage with her two best friends, Hailey and Layla. An interesting fact about Kayla is that she went to live with her family when she was 2 yrs old and was adopted into the family when she was 5 yrs old.

Meet Purple Team member, Ryelyn Duncan.
Ryleyn recently graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur and just finished her 14th and final year of dance. Ryelyn's favorite hobbies are adventuring and dance. One of her favorite dance memories is when the team all brought their favorite stuffed animal to watch them at their dress rehearsal for their spring showcase. Ryelyn says a few of her dislikes are that she doesn't like spiders, mud or silence. An interesting fact about her is that she is minoring in Spanish and was able to explore parts of the country of Spain.

Meet Green Team member, Violet Dohm.
Violet just finished 4th grade at Patrick Hamilton Elementary School in Dowagiac. She has been dancing for 8 years this year. Violet's favorite subject in school is Math and her favorite style of dance is Jazz. She loves the colors purple and teal and the Baby Sitter's Club book series when she is not in school or dancing. Her favorite hobby, though, is of course dance! One of her favorite dance memories is when Miss Mary got the team ice cream when they were having a bad day. Violet says one of her dislikes is that she does not like apples and an interesting fact about her is that she can touch her tongue to the tip of her nose!

Come join us for an afternoon of amazing dancing!

The Green Dance Company dancers have been working hard late this winter into early spring, preparing a wonderful Spring Showcase for you!

The show will highlight solos, duos and trios as well as group dances that the dancers will take to competitions this season and also dances that will be performed for for a variety of elemenary school aged students at their respective schools.

Show time is Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 3:00pm at the Dowagiac Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are $10 each.
GDA student tickets: 1 free with 1 paid adult ticket.
Tickets can be purchased from any GDC dancer/family, at all studios and right at the door the day of the show.
