SEED Seacoast Educational Endowment Dover

SEED is a non-profit organization founded to provide the tools Dover students need to achieve success as 21st century learners.

SEED provides grants to creative teachers looking for funding that may not be covered elsewhere in the public school budget.

August 1st means it's officially ONE month until the 2026-27 school year begins! Now is a great time for educators to start thinking about what grants they may want to apply for this year.

Although you're on a well-deserved break, now’s the perfect time to apply for SEED grants for the 2026-27 school year!

Apply anytime! Applications are accepted year-round, with decisions by our board monthly during September–June.

Congratulations to Dover High School and Career Technical Center, Dover NH Math teachers Jimmy Wares and Chrissy Loebsack, who recently received a SEED Professional Development Grant!

This grant will support their attendance at the national Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) Conference, where they will learn innovative strategies to make math instruction more engaging, collaborative, and student focused.

Included in their grant application, they wrote that the hope for this conference includes:

- Increase student engagement and participation in math classes
- Strengthen problem-solving and independent thinking skills
- Foster meaningful student-to-student mathematical discussions
- Make learning more accessible for students with diverse learning needs... and much more!

We can't wait to see the impact these new strategies will have in the classroom come the new school year!

SEED board member Patty Driscroll was recently able to present FGH Librarian Nicole Gallagher with a grant for a collaborative author visit featuring author Carrie Finison!

This grant will bring children's author Carrie Finison to all three Dover elementary schools, providing more than 1,200 students with a shared literacy experience focused on creativity, storytelling, vocabulary, and the writing process.

The interactive presentations will be tailored to each grade level. Students will explore the joy of reading and writing while learning firsthand from a published author, which is an amazing opportunity.

SEED was lucky enough to attend this year's Senior Awards Night at the Dover High School Auditorium to celebrate the accomplishments of its outstanding students. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 Harvey Knepp Award to Anna Hand.

This scholarship is awarded annually to the "Unsung Hero" of the senior class. Focusing on a student who exemplifies quiet leadership and integrity through their actions.

Anna is a lifelong Dover resident and plans to attend UNH in the fall, where she will major in Studio Art and pursue her master’s degree. Her passion for art and for working with teenagers and children has helped shape her goal of becoming a high school art teacher.

On the first Monday of every month, SEED members get to surprise local educators with grant awards that help bring innovative ideas to life in our Dover schools. This is what we call our Prize Parade!

Before each Prize Parade, our Grant Committee reviews all submitted grant applications and votes on the projects that best align with SEED's mission and values. Once the recipient(s) are selected, we visit their schools to present them with their grant funds in person.

We love celebrating the incredible work happening in our Dover schools and recognizing the educators who are making a difference every day.

SEED recently awarded Ashley Paige, DMS 7th grade Language Arts Teacher, a grant for "Embracing Robotics Across Content Areas".

This innovative project will bring Sphero BOLT+ programmable robots into 7th grade classrooms, helping students connect literacy, coding, collaboration, and real world problem solving in exciting new ways.

Students will use robotics to deepen their understanding of literature, while also building skills in communication, creativity, and technology. The project will extend beyond just Language Arts. This will create opportunities for cross curricular learning in math and science as well!

DMC Primary Care is hosting a FREE informational night for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) right at their new building next to the south side fire station.

DMC Primary Care - 15 Durham Road, Dover
Wednesday, May 13th at 5:30PM

CASA are trained community volunteers appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. They visit children, investigate cases, and provide reports to the court, offering consistency and stability. Volunteers must pass screenings, complete training, and be over 21).
