Today was an especially meaningful day at Holy Cross as our school community gathered for our first official Mass of the school year and celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a feast day that holds a very special significance for us as Crusaders.

Our Holy Cross community is blessed to have a relic of the True Cross, believed to be a fragment of the Cross upon which Jesus was crucified. Having this sacred relic present within our school community makes today’s celebration even more powerful, providing a tangible connection to Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and His immeasurable love for us.

What a beautiful way to begin our year of worship together! As a school proudly bearing the name Holy Cross, may we always look to the Cross as a reminder of Christ’s love, sacrifice, and victory and strive to keep Him at the center of all we learn, all we do, and all we are called to be.

“We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.”

Holy Cross School was honored to welcome the family of Corporal Matthew “Ty” Snook, along with law enforcement officers cycling throughout the state as part of the Delaware Law Enforcement Thank You Ride.

Our Crusaders proudly lined the route to cheer on the riders and show their appreciation for the men and women who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting our communities. It was an incredible sight and a meaningful opportunity for our students to express their gratitude. 💙

Following the ride, our school community gathered in prayer to remember and honor the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001, as well as Corporal Snook, who lost his life while serving the profession and community he loved.

Today was a powerful reminder of service, sacrifice, gratitude, and remembrance. We are grateful to have shared this special day with Corporal Snook’s family and our law enforcement community.

May we always remember. May we always be grateful. May God bless those who serve. 🇺🇸

Today, our entire school came together for a very special First Responders Day! Our Crusaders had the opportunity to meet some of the incredible men and women who serve and protect our community every day.

A huge thank you to the Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police, Delaware State Beach Patrol, Dover Fire Department, NCC SWAT, our local Paramedics and EMTs, the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office, and Kent County Public Safety for spending the day with us!
Our students loved learning about what you do, exploring your vehicles and equipment, asking LOTS of questions, and getting to know the people behind the uniforms. Of course, furry helpers Roy and Walter were big stars today!

Days like today are about more than seeing the lights, trucks, and equipment. They help our students understand that first responders are helpers they can trust and feel comfortable turning to when they need them. ❤️

We are incredibly grateful to each agency and first responder who took the time to educate, encourage, and connect with our Crusaders. Thank you for all you do for Holy Cross and our entire community! 💙🚓🚒🚑

Enrichment Spotlight!

Our 7th and 8th Publication Design students love flipping through yearbooks from years gone by!

Ms. Bifferato had students looking for differences and similarities in yearbook design, photography, fashion, school traditions, and even familiar faces.
It was a fun way to see how Holy Cross has changed through the years while discovering how yearbooks capture the people, memories, and moments that tell our school’s story. 💚

And, of course, finding a few teachers and staff members in their younger years made the activity even more entertaining!

What an AMAZING start to the school year! Our campus was filled with smiles, hugs, friends reunited, and new friendships beginning.

A HUGE thank-you to our newly installed HSA for welcoming our parents and grandparents with coffee and helping make the first days of school extra special! 💚

And a special shout-out to our SRO, Master Corporal Smith, and the incredible Dover PD officers who joined us on campus to welcome and support our families. We are so grateful for your presence, partnership, and continued support of our Holy Cross community! 💙

It was so wonderful to welcome our Crusader families back and feel the excitement and joy throughout our school!
