Looking back at some of Yadan's (Ambrier's Aristocrat) accomplishments... FAST CAT (Coursing Ability Test).

In our last runs, at Lums Pond Park in Bear (Delaware) with the Weim Club & Wilmington KC, Yadan needed only ### points to reach the necessary #1,000 points to finish his FAST CAT title. Four days, 8 runs. As he had just come off from earning 4 (of 6 runs) personal Highest Scores with the Blue Heron Club a few weeks before in very humid conditions, I thought this would be simple!

HA! They always told me Tibetan Spaniels had their own ideas about everything. I understand this. I believe this. I had NOT realized Yadan was a skilled mathematician as well as having a never-ending love of New Squeaky toys!

Yadan needed #165.96 points to finish. If he ran like he just had - in the very humid weather (something to think about with a 10" high dog with lots of belly coat & feathers), he would finish 5 runs. I'd entered him in all 8 runs to support the host clubs & just in case.

Three days/6 runs later, with 2 Turtle awards (slowest times in trial + gorgeous Turtle Squeaky toys as big as him award), we were down to the wire needing #33.68 points to finish his title. Previously, Yadan had earned that many points (running over 16mph) in ONE run.

Yadan's 7th run was SLOW, earning another Turtle Award. For his final run, my sister Linda (Yadan's only Releaser throughout his Fast CAT career) picked him up to look towards me and highly encouraged Yadan to run his fluffiness at full speed!

Yadan listened. In true Tibbie fashion, after doing the math, he finished the run with 0.39 points to spare. Yadan earned his FAST CAT title with #1,000.39 points that day - and took home his 4th Turtle award!

That was a year ago this month.

Catching this page up on our Tibetan Spaniel's (Yadan - Ambrier's Aristocrat) accomplishments.

End of November 2024 - Yadan was awarded Best of Breed at the National Dog Show (televised on Thanksgiving Day), which gave him the final points to earn his Grand Champion Bronze title.

The following day, Yadan was again selected as Best of Breed - and was one of 6 dogs pulled in Non-Sporting Group for final placements. I was the only non-professional handler - Yadan was the youngest & the only dog without MULTIPLE Best in Shows. Such a great honor!

Westminster Kennel Club - the second Monday of February - Yadan was 2nd Award of Excellence in a 21-entry of top Tibetan Spaniels! Again, I was the only non-professional handler & Yadan was the youngest dog in the ribbons.

In April, Yadan made the first cut at our National Specialty. At our Banquet, Yadan was awarded the highest level award of the Tibetan Spaniel Club of America Versatility Excellent for titling in
Manners - STAR-Puppy CGC CGCA CGCU, FDC VHMA VHMP
Temperament - ATT, THDN*
Athleticism - BCAT DCAT FAST CAT, FITB FITS FIT DOG GOLD
Just for FUN - Trick Dog (Novice, Intermediate & Advanced)
Yadan earned his TSCA Versatility Award with his accomplishments in 2023.

Bear, DE, the end of April 2025, with a blast of rain & thunderstorm left high winds for Sunday. Shown quite naturally, with the high winds tousling Yadan's coat, Mr. David Kirkland awarded him Best of Breed & BOB Owner-Handler over a healthy 12-Tibbie entry! When we came to the Group competition, Mr. Kirkland gave Yadan the nod for Group 3.

This win was particularly heartwarming as it was Mr. Kirkland who awarded our then new champion Best of Breed at the Regional Tibbie Specialty when Yadan was 10.5 months old! At Group photo time, Mr. K remembered Yadan and said he is maturing very well.

We're on a break until the UKC Top 10 Premier (Yadan was #1 Tibetan spaniel in UKC in 2024 with a Best In Show, a Reserve-BIS, multiple group wins & placements) in June.

Now it's time to relax and practice earning our Performance titles.

Yadan is incredible! So much fun to work & play with! I will forever be grateful to his breeder, Mallory Driskill of Ambrier Tibbies, for her special girl, Kora - GCH Kan Sing's Ambrier's Kora LA, last son.

Carol Tyte, White Acres, & her Kody - GCH Priman-Gembox Capture the Adventure - is Yadan's sire. As Yadan matures, he looks more and more like his daddy!

Now, this is spooky! We show at the Hampton Roads clusters.

As we do not go hiking in the woods, the dogs are never off lead, and are all up to date on their vaccinations - we'll continue to enter. Extra carefully.

A local wildlife rehabilitation group has reported a canine distemper outbreak in Hampton Roads, with daily calls about unusual animal behaviors, according to Meredith Broadhurst, president of Evelyn’s Wildlife Refuge.
