During their regular meeting on Monday, August 17, the Kingfisher County Commissioners voted to place the county under a burn ban for two weeks as hot, dry conditions continue to increase the risk of wildfires.
Residents are asked to use extra caution and avoid activities that could accidentally start a fire. Even one spark can quickly become a dangerous grass or wildfire when conditions are dry.
During the burn ban, restrictions apply to open burning, including campfires, bonfires and the burning of brush, debris or other materials.
Outdoor cooking with LPG, natural gas, charcoal, smokers and pellet grills is permitted when done in an appropriate grilling receptacle over a nonflammable surface and at least five feet away from flammable vegetation.
Please do your part to protect our homes, farms, livestock, property and the firefighters who respond when a fire gets out of control.
