We are aware of an ongoing situation in the CR School District where a Middle School principal has apparently taken it upon themselves to "Google" a book content "rating system" and lay down some kind of fatwa prohibiting students? teachers? librarians? someone, it isn't entirely clear at this time what the exact rules are, from having or sharing or discussing or some combination — any reading materials that are not "rated Y or E".

If this description leaves you with more questions than when you started and you're wondering if your CR student can be subjected to the whims of a Google search before facing disciplinary action over their reading materials because the principal said so, you aren't alone and we are monitoring the situation trying to learn more and ensure our students and their freedom to learn is protected.
