ECIC Delaware Welcome to the Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) at Delaware State University!

The ECIC supports Delaware’s early childhood educators with scholarships and resources for earning credentials like the Child Development Associate® (CDA), clock hour training, and Associate or Bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education. Through the DE RISE Scholarships, we are committed to supporting Delaware’s early childhood educators as they pursue credentials, including the Child Development Associate® (CDA), Associate and Bachelor’s degrees, and 120 Clock Hour Training. Many of our scholarships cover tuition and assessment fees, provide stipends, and offer essential resources like laptops to reduce financial barriers and promote professional development. Our goal is to strengthen Delaware’s early childhood workforce, knowing that when educators thrive, children thrive. Additionally, ECIC career advisors offer guidance, connecting educators with resources and support to help them advance and excel in their careers.

Earning a Child Development Associate(CDA®) is more than completing a credential. It reflects the time, effort, growth, and support that help early childhood educators strengthen their practice and continue moving forward in the profession.

Kristi Tylman of Corporate Kids, who works with 1-year-olds, recently earned her Birth to Five Child Development Associate® (CDA®) credential.

For Kristi, the experience was both meaningful and enjoyable, with encouragement from Karin Douglas helping her stay challenged and supported throughout the process.

In her words:

Delaware’s early childhood workforce is showing up in the national conversation.

Today, the Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) took the national stage as Career Development Coordinator Charley Anderson joined the Early Childhood Technical Assistance (ECTA) Center’s webinar series, Strengthening Recruitment and Retention in the EI/ECSE Workforce, as a featured speaker for Building the Pathways.

Charley shared how the ECIC is helping turn career goals into clearer pathways for Delaware’s early childhood professionals through personalized advisement, education, credentials, and opportunities for continued advancement.

We’re proud to see Delaware’s work shared with early childhood leaders across the country and contributing to the national conversation around strengthening the early childhood workforce.

Sometimes, the first step toward a degree looks like this. 💙

Last week, The ECIC provided free laptops to our DE RISE Associate and Bachelor’s degree scholars as they prepared to begin classes this fall at Delaware State University, Delaware Technical Community College, the University of Delaware, Wilmington University and University of the Potomac.

For each scholar, this fall marks the beginning of something bigger: a new degree journey, new opportunities for growth, and another step forward in their early childhood education career.

To our scholars beginning this journey, start strong, stay focused, and believe in what’s possible ahead.
