Good afternoon all Everyone.
We are excited to announce that the PTO is now back in effect
NEXT MEETING WILL BE NOV 9th 2022 @ 6PM at the school

Greetings WHMS Parents,
As all of you know by now the rest of the school year will be done by remote learning. I would like to take the time and say thank you! This school year was a challenging one for the PTO, we had to reorganize and build trust with the Teachers. It started with you the parents, the PTO went from a zero email list to a seventy email list of parents willing to receive information. With that strong list of parents we (PTO) were able to send constant communication to you about our events. You stepped up in a big way! Parents started to participate in many activities, we chaperoned trips, volunteered for the book fair, donated cloths, participated in fundraisers and even showed up on a Saturday to remodel the teacher lounge. As a whole we were able to form partnerships with the Cooking club, Social worker, PBIS, Librarian and Consular. We even opened a page. What an amazing year we had! To all the 6th grade parents Thank you for your help this year you will be missed, Good luck at Central Middle School. To all the 5th grade parents Thank you for your help and I look forward in working with you again next year.

As we all know due to the Coronavirus there has been a State wide shutdown to all public schools. This has presented a problem to the students that rely on the breakfast and lunch program. Well I am happy to share with you that a private business as stepped up to the challenge. IGNITE/Kaizen and other community members has started OPERATION: FEED TINY HUMANS They are offering FREE Breakfast and Lunch from 3/16 - 3/20 to all Capital and Caesar Rodney School District Students! Please share this information with all other parents that you know.

I had a great conversation with the school social worker, she was explaining to me some of the methods used to get the kids to communicate one way was through drawing or coloring. She said she was low on supplies, so the PTO went out and supplied the social worker with some supplies that she needed. The PTO gifted 5 packs of 36 color pencils giving her 180 pencils! These are the type of ways the PTO will support the school.

In speaking with the school nurse we found out that our parents have been donating clothing for children that our nurses see on a daily basis. It was been overwhelming to the point the nurses needed help folding and organizing the cloths our parents answered by volunteering there time to do the task! See the before and after.
