2024 update for Leg Up To Literacy Equine-Assisted Learning LLC!

I have decided to put a pause on our Horse Powered Reading and equine-assisted learning work for this year. My family is in the midst of getting our facility up (a lovely barn with an indoor arena!!) and between teaching middle school and wearing all the other hats I wear in the horse world, I am just taking a step back for this year.

I am turning my focus to continue some fundraising in this "off-season" for our scholarship fund and materials fund so that we will have plenty to start up with again when our facility is built. Once we can offer year-round programming, we can be a little bit more self-sustainable!

I am still planning to offer traditional tutoring, homeschooling support, and ELA enrichment to students this summer, but will be shifting the focus to middle school and high school students (grades 6-12). I have started adding some kids to my list for this summer, and I am happy to add a few more! Reach out if you are interested in summer work!

Stay tuned for some fundraising events, including equitation/jumper shows, this summer!!

First Li’l Reading Riders session in the books! Had so much fun with Brielle and Happy! We read Noni the Pony and practiced some reading strategies, learned how to brush, learned how to lead, and had a riding lesson.

Our next session is December 9th 9:00-10:30. and the read aloud book will be The Horse Book Series: Blaze’s Body. After reading the book and learning about parts of the horse, we will have a short riding lesson with grooming and tacking up. I have two spaces available for this next session!

THERE HAS BEEN AN ADDITION TO THE RAFFLE! I have added the rainbow unicorn, "Magic" to the raffle! When I went to order "Thomas," I just had to get the unicorn, too!

SO NOW: The first ticker winner will get their choice of either "Thomas" or "Magic" plus the LeMieux grooming kit. 2nd ticket winner will get the other horse (no groom kit included).

The ponies do not come with additional accessories (except for the grooming kit for the 1st ticket winner). However, the lucky winners can check out the plethora of tack (hunter AND dressage bridles, saddles, browbands, girths, etc), blankets, quarter sheets, wraps, polos, boots, saddle pads, and bonnets to purchase on the Lemieux site. Magic the Unicorn has matching wings that can be purchased!!
