Help Us Plan the Dousman/Explore Fun Run!

We're looking for a volunteer or small team to take the lead on planning this year's Fun Run!

You won't be doing it alone — you'll have a budget and support from the PTO and the school, and we'll be available to help with flyers, volunteer signups, and getting the word out.

If you'd enjoy helping shape a fun event for our learners, complete this Form, and we will connect you with others who are interested by next Thursday. If you have any questions, please send us a message! 💚

This is a tradition of Dousman; however, there is no existing committee. You won’t be doing it alone—you’ll have a budget and support from the PTO and school, and we’ll help with flyers, volunteer sign-ups, and communication as needed. Interested in helping make this a fun day for our learne...

Don’t miss your chance to be a Room Parent!

We’d love to have more parents involved in our Dousman/Explore classrooms this year! Kindergarten is fully covered, and all of the Explore classrooms already have at least one room parent, but could always use more! Many of our Dousman classrooms, however, are still looking for a parent volunteer.

Being a room parent is a great way to stay connected to your child’s classroom, support their teacher, and help build a fun and connected classroom community. And the time commitment is minimal — your teacher will let you know how you can best help throughout the year.

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved at school, this is a great opportunity!

Week Six and a Half - Get to Know Your PTO!

Hello Dousman and KM Explore Families!

I’m Liz Evans, and I’m excited to be helping out as our PTO’s Volunteer Coordinator this year!

I have two children who moved from Magee to KM Explore this year, into 1st and 2nd grade. Outside of the PTO, my family and I love being outside together—swimming, hiking, gardening, snowshoeing, or cheering on each other’s games and activities. If there’s fresh air involved, we’re probably there!

As Volunteer Coordinator, my focus is making sure every family, new or returning, feels welcomed and knows how easy it is to get involved—no pressure, just an open door. And if your family is new to our district this year, I especially want you to know that you’re not the only one new here.

This year, I’m looking forward to working alongside our Dousman/Explore families to build out committees that support both our students and staff across our combined campus. Volunteer Coordinator is a newer role for our PTO, too, so if connecting people, welcoming families, and helping others get involved sounds like something you’d enjoy, I’d especially love to hear from you!

I can’t wait to meet more of you at one of the upcoming events. Please say “Hi” whether that’s at an event or on the playground!

Culver’s Share Night (Wales location) — Tuesday, September 15th, 4–7 pm

PTO public meeting (DEX Library) — Thursday, September 17th at 4 pm

Back to School Picnic with your learner during their regular lunchtime — Friday, September 18th

Wishing you and your family a fantastic start to the school year!

Liz
